2004 Hardcourt Materials Set Build

Set: 2004-05 Upper Deck Hardcourt - Materials Combo

Total Cards: 42

Current Progress: 19/42

Things I like about the set:

-The language on the back specifies that the warmup was used in an NBA game. I can't believe Panini gets away with this unrelated material crap.

-Most players are also pictured in their warm ups.

-The die cut wood is very unique

-Is the hardwood game used?? There is no mention of the hardwood being game used on the back, BUT in the 2003 set the wood is game used and each wood piece in this set looks different (color/grain)

I will post my progress. Still a couple big boys to go (Jordan, Kobe), but I do have the Lebron.

Duncan, the wood is different right?

Very cool set. I have the Jordan in my collection and love it.

I'm pretty sure though that the wood isn't game used.

I also don’t think these are game used like the 03/04 versions. UD was really specific about that on the backs of the 03/04 cards.

Yea you both are probably right about the wood not being game used, weird that they used different woods though

If you've ever bought bulk wood art supplies from places like Hobby Lobby, there's definitely a lot variation within the same pack/lot based on how the original wood material is being sourced.

That is an interesting card for sure. It looks like the wood where the seams on the basketball are would break super easy. They look really thin. I would think this set would be fairly difficult to obtain a PSA 10 grade.

I love how they chose the photos for this specific set

now Panini uses the same 2 photos for every single set
