Default Druw Jones ~ “An” Chip off the Old Block?

He’s 18 and the #1 ranked Amateur Prospect in 2022. I’m liking what I see and read - how about you?

Seems legit.

I don’t think opposing teams will be too eager with the “overrated” chants going forward (google if you haven’t seen it).

For some reason the chant gets hard to hear at the end...

Yeah, but I’m pretty sure he’s headed to the O’s…

Besides that though, I’m a fan.

C’mon, now, I know you have your bit you need to stick to… but there’s a lot of young exciting players who will debut in 2022 who weren’t in BB ‘21: Nolan Gorman, CJ Abrams, and Riley Greene to name a few!

I love the internet - "the best prospect since Bryce Harper".

If true, the hype would be monstrous.

Could make people forget about Acuna/Soto/Ohtani/Tatis/Fatty/Wander/LouBoB.

Did any of the players you list come up through the US? There haven't been that many domestic prospects at the hs and college level since Bryant and before him Harper.

I just watched some of his highlights. The first thing that stood out is he’s in high school and he slow jogs every HR, points at the sky rounding the bases and has to stop a few feet from the plate to take off his helmet and walk across the plate. So he already has the MLB showboating down. But he does look great. The track record for sons of good to great MLB players has been pretty strong lately.

2022 Bowman Draft could be killer. Lots of high-end hitters, including a few high schoolers! Druw Jones, Tremarr Johnson and Elijah Green are the big three. 11 of the top 12 prospects according to MLB.com are hitters, so hopefully 2022 Bowman Draft isn't as pitcher heavy as 2021.

They will most certainly hold someone over for 2023 Bowman.

True.

I was just referring to the hobby dollar shift to the next "sure thing".

Feels like the next generational talent (20 years) is popping up every 2-3 years nowadays.

I'm pretty sure that he's not. A lot more goes into a team drafting a kid than what a prospect list says. Now, he could, I suppose. It's far from the O's current MO, and I'm sure that someone will say "ha, I told you so!"

But, most likely that he won't, and I won't even remember that I said this.

If I had to guess right now it's going to be either Lee or DeLauter going #1.

So where do you think Jones falls to? I don’t follow the MLB draft too closely. Any chance he falls to #6?

MLB draft is impossible to predict really, especially this far out. Yes, I'd think that's a possibility, but I'd think he goes top 5. He doesn't seem like a kid that the O's or the Pirates would take. Signability and bonus demands can take a kid from top 5 all the way outta the first round.

I like him more than I like Elijah Green, just because of the swing.

The draft order is Bal, Ari, Tex, Pitt, Was, Mia, Cubs

I could see Tex maybe getting him since they do seem to actually care. I'm sure his Dad will steer him away from Bal, but who knows. No way all of the top guys fall below Was and the Cubs.

He probably won’t make it to the Marlins, but I can day dream for a few more days…

Honest question: is Scott Boras his agent? Is asking for an above slot contract?
