Default Upper Deck Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse breakdown/thoughts..

I’m sure there is a thread somewhere on this forum but I could not find it. I’m not quite sure what the interest level is on this set but I had a chance to bust an eight box inner case this afternoon. I’ve seen a lot of artwork/sketch cards recently from artists on the Facebook group and there was some phenomenal work done, so I thought I would roll the dice on some of this stuff.

8 Box Inner Case

* as others have speculated, two autographs, one sketch card in my eight box inner case.

I thought the lenticular inserts were nicely done. A few of my boxes had two in them instead of one. 10 total in my case..

I’m not quite sure how I feel about manufactured “hits” in general, these are nice enough, but not sure they should count as hits.

Some fun insert sets. Here are two of them..

I pulled two parallels, the canvas and the Red parallel. I believe the odds were about the same for each, about 1:130 packs

The bigger 3 hits from the case

I was fortunate enough to pull a printing plate autograph 1/1 so that is super cool!

Overall, I enjoyed the product. I thought it was well done. I’m not sure how it will be received in general, but I was really impressed with a few names on the autograph list. There are definitely a few that I need in my personal collection including the Kathryn plate I pulled…I do however believe that if you’re cracking this product, you’re going to need to do it by the inner case or master case, If possible. $200+ for a manufactured patch or Relic is just too tough of a pill to swallow. But by the case if you can! Just wanted to show everybody the results and what an eight box inner case looks like.

Completely forgot, I also pulled a gold parallel manufacturer to patch. So that was kind of cool.

I think it's a cool set, and if it was priced at pre-pandemic prices, it would be decent. At $200+ a box, it is a terrible break. At least they did get autos of both Miles and Gwen, so it's not all bad.

Two years ago this probably would have come out around $60-70/box, and I would have happily tried a few boxes when it went on clearance at $35-40/box. With current prices, I will look to buy singles.

I may try one more Inner and that will be that. Really only need a Hahn, Steinfeld & Moore for the PC. Will pick those off online…I thought Hahn and Steinfeld were great gets for Upper Deck as they are MCU big names.

I saw some of the broken on YouTube and was shocked when I saw it was around $250 a box. What's the chase hits? This looked like an absolutely terrible break at $250. Just don't see the appeal whatsoever, especially coming on the heels of Metal which has already floundered a bit in terms of single prices.

Well my price on my master case was $70 per box from GTS. Of course it’s all allocated based on past history from purchases. My other distributor also gave me a small handful of boxes at around the same price point….$200+ is silliness. I would not break this at that PP. but for what I was into it for it seemed like a fun rip.

I appreciate you taking the time to share your break. AWESOME Kathryn plate auto!! This inner case configuration makes me incredibly nervous for future movie/tv Marvel sets given the price point.

I've seen one other master case break on youtube. Looks like five /125 letter patches per inner case. There are only 12 subject, and 11 letters('spider-verse' not sure if '-' is letter so 11 or 12)? 125x12x11=16500 letters. 5 per inner case, so 3300 inner cases??? This math right? 3300 8 box inner cases. That is a lot of spider-man into spiderverse. I would definitely expect to see price comes down, but who knows.

Neat how UD struck while the iron was hot.

This movie came out, what, four years ago?

Autos and sketches are cool, but manufactured hits are pointless to me and will keep me from buying the product.

Fan of the movie and the auto plate is cool. Not a fan of patch cards. And it also looks like UD still struggles with QC. Look at the bottom of OP’s patch that looks like it was cut with a nail file.

I just don't get the obsession Upper Deck has with manufactured patches. I'd rather them do fake wardrobe cards like Cryptozoic would do.

I actually liked the fake memorabilia in Archer, was pretty cool would prefer it over the patch stuff, but either way still don't think it should be a box hit on a $200+ product

Especially when most of them are going for less than $10. This whole release seems to off to me.

I liked those cards, in part because they were a joke. Conceptually it was enjoyable. Also they usually didn't do z ton of it. In the DC stuff they were a rarer hit

Two box break. Cool set at a price that makes it almost unbreakable.

Some nice autographs in the list for sure, but the fact that the actor isn't shown on the card is a big deterrent for me.

I might chase some autographs, but only if they are cheap.

That's pretty normal for animated series autos though. I can't really think of any where they show the actor on the card.

Star Wars Animated
Rick & Morty
Star Trek Animated
Archer
My Little Pony
Steven Universe

They all show the characters on the auto card signed by the voice actors. You are probably in the minority of wanting a pic of the actor too...maybe on the back of the card?

The real crime is that the Spider-Pig auto is the storyboard artist and not John Mulaney. Some one needs to put out a Big Mouth set.
