Best Lamine Yamal RC???

Looking to spend ~$2k on a Lamine Yamal RC... there are so many brands out there and I have no clue what one is best. Leaning a bit towards an auto version of the 2023-24 TOPPS UEFA CLUB COMPETITIONS, but would be interested in hearing others opinions...

you can get a great one for way less! regardless, id go #'d of donruss or optic rated rookie. imo best longevity and inline with previous set popularity rookies like Vini Jr.

I would wait OP and see if he eventually has any RC Logo cards with On-Card Autographs. In the meantime I think his Topps Living #596 is a solid card with an already determined print run that should help it in the long run.

zero people gave a damn about 2017 Chrome Soccer too. Tons of people cared about Jadon Sancho, Joao Felix, Fati, Pedri etc. I don't really care about what people care about at the moment, I try to think a little longer term for longer term collections.

Between Living and his first Topps now, the PR was over 30,000 cards alone. I genuinely don't think any rookie will ever have has as many cards as this kid when Panini and Topps are finished. The prices he's going for now are utterly ridiculous and there's going to be a lot of pain to follow. They have already seen to it that his rookie auto is practically worthless - it's like guns in America, there's three for every punter.

A lot of ppl seem to care about the Messi Topps Living card (#1).

But I agree about the Yamal overproduction.

In the world of Messi cards, the Topps Living #1 is quite far down the pecking order and that's with a much smaller PR than Yamal. I would never recommend a Topps Living as the preferred choice for a player unless it's literally the only card available.

The problem is that 2k right now does not get you a good card imo as well due to the inflated prices atm. Example That Topps card above is definitely not going to grade well and if you're investing 2k then me personally would want something that is going to 10 which in itself is even more challenging due to the fact that unless a seller just needs cash now a lot of the cards listed ungraded probably have some flaws.

I don't think anyone was saying Topps Living #1 is THE Messi card to get (or even in the top 10).

I'm just saying more than "zero" ppl care about it.

For a card that was printed on-demand and sold exclusively online, it's done very well for anyone that bought in at $5 or even $10.

Topps Living cards usually get pretty strong grades as well.

Sometimes if you can't afford the big stuff, you just gotta grind away with the lower stuff until you can save up for what you really want.

But again, as it pertains to Yamal, yeah...I'd save up for Euro Chrome.

$2k on that card is madness.

paper, won't grade well, auto is really bad with gaps, becomes fairly insignificant when chrome drops.

has a few champions league medals priced in.

if anyone is insistent on dropping major money on him at the worst possible time to buy, don't buy a rated rookie, don't by an on demand card, don't buy a paper UCC card either... just no.

get the best Chrome card you can.

Yup

The last PSA 8 did $20 and there are only 6 total up for sale. Not bad considering how much he struggled this year. To my point, there are 1200+ of his Prizm #141 card up for sale right now on eBay alone. What's your point? I said give it time.

Why the hate for Topps Living cards? If you’re simply making a point about Lamine Yamal’s RC, fine.

Otherwise, the set has been gaining serious momentum in terms of general pricing for many “base” cards.

Set builders are out there and there are only 92 possible total sets out there…

I think of the set as a cult classic and I love it.

Just sold the last of my "good" Yamal rookies I was holding. Everything I sold got 2-3x what I paid 3-6 months ago. Looks like a whole slew of PSA graded direct-to-ebay cards are starting to drop and flood ebay. Prices on some cards I was holding are already coming down ~20% from highs 4-6 weeks ago. The prices that some crazy high-pop cards are/were demanding is insane (Im looking at you MegaCracks 423!!).
