Default COMC Advice Request

Never sold on COMC...but have plenty of experience selling on eBay and Facebook.

COMC has a promotion ("Free graded card submissions") until Friday. I have 200-300 slabs sitting around collecting dust, of which about 80% of them, I do not want to keep long-term.

QUESTION: What types of slabs will sell best at COMC? Are there specific sports or price ranges that do best at COMC? I've read that raw cards between $1-10 are the sweet spot--is there a similar sweet spot for slabs?

I want to avoid sending in slabs that will sit around and cost me storage fees.

Appreciate your informed guidance.

it all depends on how you price them.

It's a penny for anything over $.75. You're lookin at $2-$3 a month in storage fees. If you want to get rid of them and make something that you can control, this is a great opportunity to send them in. If you just want to get rid of them for anything, why not auction?

Biggest deterrent to selling them via auction is the listing and shipping for 50+ slabs...I can do it, but would rather COMC do the heavy lifting and me just price them appropriately. I don't mind their 10% penalty, as I would probably just use the funds to buy into a bigger card.

In terms of how I price them, I'd probably price them a few percentage points below recent comps. So if the same slab sold for $20, I'd probably price it at $19, etc.

if that is the case, it will sit there for a while until the right buyer comes along.

$12-15 and it would sell quicker unless it is a card in high demand.

OK...that's good info.

I can get market prices on eBay for 13% which, using my $20 analogy, nets me about $18.50 on an auction-based approach.

Sounds like COMC isn't a good solution for me.
