Friends,
I'm gathering my suitcase full of narcotics, my trusted attorney (despite his national handicap - is Canadian - this man is very valuable to me) and I'm heading through Bat County for the Mint. The card show (not the 400) is March 30-April 2 at mgm. Well - I'm doing trip with my best mate to take in opening day from the most glorious sportsbook there is. If you know, you know which one I mean. And while I had realized a while back that there was a card show on the strip during that weekend, I had written off going. I assumed that there would be no on site psa grading, which seemed to be the case a few months back when I checked. And my buddy, while he loves baseball deeply, isn't posting on forums about cards - ya know. I really didn't even want to bring up the idea of a card show on what will be his first time on the strip. Add to this that I've never actually gone to a card show myself, I moved on to dreams of ether binges and whatnot. So, funny enough it's my buddy who points out to me this week that PSA is doing on site grading at the show. It has me thinking I should try to use the opportunity to do two things that become more complicated from Canada. Grading with the big boys and trading/selling some big cards. Long post short: - Anyone going to this show? Anyone go last year? (think this is year 2) - Is it... good? How well attended was last year? Good marketplace? - Newb question - If I intend to drop off cards for grading, do I need a show ticket for both Saturday and then Sunday for pick up? - Question only I can answer for myself but I'm asking you guys anyway - Would you give up precious hours of a Vegas trip (or substitute your destination of choice) to hit up a show? Thanks. And remember, Never trust a cop in a raincoat.

I went last year. Admission was too high. Offerings were geared toward high end modern hoops and football. Not much in the way of dumpster diving. The good news is a lot of outta town dealers, some of whom will discount to make up for the previous nights gambling/ strip club losses.

Attendance was great in a very different market last year.
Good variety of vendors with pretty much all sports and trading card games etc. I will say that I don't remember seeing much hockey. Skip the panels and anything above the lowest tier admission. Waste of time and they just end up being an echo chamber. Admission of ~$20/day is high, but I personally find it to be worthwhile, especially since this year has onsite PSA grading. That was not available last year and will be the main reason that I attend. That, and experiencing Opening Day at the sportsbook. This is a general question for anyone with experience as it'll be my first time submitting: Is there a sense that PSA is more lenient on grades when it comes to in-person grading for quick turnaround at shows? Thanks for the feedback guys. Still considering it, though it's easily the part of the trip I'm most indecisive about.
If not at the show, maybe I'll catch you guys at the circa book. Cheers. Quote:

I appreciate the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas hints. Make sure you spend sometimes upstairs at Circus Circus

Went last year, and not sure if I'm going this year. It's fun but since I don't fool with graded cards, my purchases were way less than I expected.
IMO if you're in town anyways, I'd go. |

Also, you can send your cards in to PSA right now at Regular service or higher and pick them up at the show. Check out the website at Mint collective for details. I think they have to arrive at PSA by 3/30.

oh shoot, I'm actually going to be in Vegas for a wedding and have a free day as the wife will be doing a last-minute bachelorette day for the bride. I think the 30th is my free day. I was planning on finding a good cheap Hold Em table in old Vegas but a card show might actually be more fun/fruitful.
That PSA ship now and pick up at the show is super interesting too. I'll check out the website as that may really work out for me with a few cards I was considering subbing. I am not a current PSA member either though. hmmm |

Perhaps a parking lot meetup with beers on me will be in order?
Casino bars are so damn pricey

The latter I think $70 /card for either same weekend slabbing(those lines though) OR ship to PSA by 3/30 and pickup sat at the show.

Whenever I have friends or family in town and I hang with them down on the strip its like $100 minimum. It’s crazy how expensive Las Vegas has become for food and drink.

While the option to pre-submit to PSA is cool, I will not have time on Saturday or Sunday to be at the show, so I won't be subbing anything. If I decide to check it out it'll be on the Thursday, slight chance of Friday.
