I just picked up a 1st bowman of a friend I recently learned had a bowman card when he came out of the draft in the 17th round. However, the back of his card is bio info for another player. WHile that kind of error isn't necessarily unheard of, what I found odd was the player bowman had the bio info on was not in the set! So I am thinking that some topps employee just....researched the entirely wrong player and but together an entire bio? I would assume my friend's picture on the front/choice to be included in set is not the error. Although, I did think 17th round was pretty late to be in Bowman draft and the guy whose bio on the back was the 11th round.
If anyone has seen/heard of an error of a player back who is not in the set anywhere, I'd be curious to hear about them. Wishing I could have timely reported the issue to get corrected! Card is BDPP 78 John Kuchno for those curious |

Happens a lot. The same thought and care isn’t put into the back of cards anymore. Look at 2024 Stadium Club, every single pitcher in the set has their win/loss record match, so if a pitcher has 100 wins, it lists they have 100 losses also. It’s just bad quality control and even if you had seen this in 2012, Topps wouldn’t have done anything to correct it as it’s that way on every copy of this card.

Yeah, they stopped printing cards in multiple runs decades ago. Nearly all errors are intentional gimmicks at this time. Very rarely will an error be so egregious that it causes a factory to print additional corrected runs.

Well at least he's got a card. My co-worker's brother-in-law played cornerback at Rutgers, went undrafted in 2007 and bounced around with stints on Saints, Packers & Browns practice squads and a year in the UFL before signing with the Raiders in 2010. The following season he was activated for six games before being released to make room for Carson Palmer's signing.
His name was Joe Porter. During his 4 years in the NFL, he never had a profile photo on NFL.com, just a black helmeted sillohuette. The week he was cut, he finally got a head shot - of Steelers linebacker Joey Porter. |
