Default On Your Mock, Get Set, Go...

Terrible title...absolute worst Dad-ish joke I could come up with.

Any who...

Now that the lottery is set, who you are you looking at in the draft? Team favorites, best fits, etc?

I'll be tracking Jalen Hood-Schifino and Trayce Jackson-Davis, despite my dislike for hyphenated last names.

Taylor Hendricks is one that has me intrigued right now.

Also, Brandin Podziemski...potential 2nd rounder...is he the next Santa Clara gift to the league?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0YzrxuMT_o

I guarantee, if he is drafted and plays, he gets a hair reference from Ninja.

Lively, Black, Dick.

Any one of those would be a solid pickup for the Mavs. Personally, I hope they reach for Dick.

I have Taylor Hendricks as the 4th best player in the draft. Maybe not drafted 4th but if I were to rank I’d have him there.

The Thompson twins couldn’t even dominate low level high school talent but people have them top 5 blows my mind. Amen is going to be a perfect culture fit on the Houston AAU team

Wemby
Scoot
Miller
Hendricks

Outside of that this draft is looking really weak. I haven’t done much film watching of any of these guys yet. I’ll start looking after the draft

Is Jarace Walker a big?

No one cares about any of these players if you aren’t #1

Everyone watched Miller in the tournament after he was involved in a murder

That dude is #2?

Hard pass

If I was any team that is even decent? Trade for someone that’s good

Jack Hairlow.

Only dude I'm really intrigued by is Whitmore. Great size, and build is already NBA ready. Not particularly quick, but strong off the dribble and a capable shot creator that can bully defenders into the paint and finish over the top. Style is very reminiscent of a Dollar General Ant (talking style here only). Great active hands on defense.

Could possibly see him as a potential 18-20ppg guy in 2-3 years given the right situation.

I love NBA draft season but life has been busy recently so this past year was my lowest college/pre-NBA consumption in a long time.

My initial thoughts are that I’m intrigued by the top level talent but there is a lot of bust potential in that group.

And I think a lot of post lotto to second round guys will not see a second NBA contract whereas the last couple of drafts have had a lot of depth.

Somebody like TJD had an awesome college career but I think there’s a better chance that he’s playing in EuroLeague than the NBA in 3 years.

As for guys who I think will outperform their draft position/live up to the hype, I like Jaime Jaquez to have a nice long role player career, Leonard Miller as a lotto ticket that cashes in, and Brandon Miller to have the second best career after Wemby.

I don't get the fascination with him by some people. He was wildly inconsistent on offense, but you did know that he was going to rebound and get you a block and a steal each game. If this is who I am left with picking, in the lottery, I think I trade back.

I asked cause if he's a "big" in the NBA I'm not interested at all.

If he's a wing the conversation changes a bit

I think you have to play him as a big, he can't shoot. I absolutely love Hendricks as well.

For my Hawks I love Anthony Black, Taylor Hendricks, Cam Whitmore, Cason Wallace and Bilal Coulibaly or Dereck Lively. I'd love one of Cissoko/Jaquez/Jones/Sasser/Walsh in the 2nd.

Dream scenario is Mavs trade 10 to Atlanta for Clint Capela and they get one of the top 4 and one of the last two at 15.
Pipe dream scenario is Pistons trade 5 for De'Andre Hunter and we're guaranteed at one of Whitmore/Hendricks.

I still don't get the hesitations some folks seem to have around the possibility of a Scoot -LaMelo duo.

B. Miller seems like he’s the safest but not necessarily the BPA after Wemby.

Scoot is absolutely the 2nd best player in the draft - and in a lot of recent drafts he's the #1 pick absolutely.

Yep, Miller is overrated.

Scoot would go over Paolo last year, Scoot goes over AE and likely Fultz.

Disagree completely

Paolo was better
Chet was better (as a prospect)
Edwards and Ball definitely were

But whatever

Neither of us can prove it

Scoot is overrated

I'm a UCF grad and have been following Hendricks for quite awhile since his High School days. The only reason we were even able to get him is because we offered his twin brother as well (who is somehow 5 inches shorter) and no one else would. He needs to put on weight but is great on both ends of the floor and shoots the 3 better than you would expect. He could be a poor mans Kevin Garnett

Scoot is Absolutely Special. Pretty sure early on he was trying to go for it to be the #1 pick against Wemby. Once it was obvious it would never happen he started to focus more on developing his game and eventually shut it down to protect against injury. Just watch any game he's played in, the game is special.
