What is the best looking card set ever made. Im Not talking most expensive or best inserts I am talking Base Cards ...In the history of cards there have been some very good looking card sets, what are your opinions of the best ever made....My Personal Preference is the 1998/99 Topps Gold Label...I know there are not too many great cards in that set, but out of all my Base Card Jordan's this one sticks out. Follows up by SPX. It is really hard to beat those in my opinion. Those Gold Labels just pop out.

1971 Topps Basketball. First set that included ABA cards. Iconic design w/ cool 1970s font...

I'm a sucker for a Hologram, 96 SPx
But plenty of right answers to this question! Last edited by rustywest; 04-19-2022 at 02:52 PM. |

Well, technically 98-99 Topps Gold Label were inserts in 98-99 Topps Series 2. Theres only 10 cards in the set for that reason, it was sort of a preview set.
08-09 Chrome gets my vote!

98-99 and 06-07 EX and both stunners. Flair Showcase (any year) is another.

I loved 1990-91 UD with the hardwood borders. Some others that come to mind:
98-99 SPx (great design and photography - if only they weren't so condition sensitive!) 03-04 TC 08-09 TC (photography is stellar)

I would say one of the many EX sets, I can't decide which is the best one.

1996 Flair Showcase and 1996 E-X2000 are the top 2 for me.

For me it's 97/98 Skybox EX 2001 closely followed by 96/97 Flair Showcase.

1997-98 Fleer is another set I forgot about. Great photography. Also the matte / no-gloss base was a great idea. The parallels are glossy if you really must have the shine. ![]() 1997-98 Fleer - [Base] #23 - Michael Jordan Courtesy of COMC.com

1994-95 SP probably gets my votes. From the etched rookie cards to that distinctivehalf diamond border on one side.
1992-93 Fleer was the first pack I opened and I’m a sucker for the bronze border. 1995-96 Upper Deck has such a simple, classy design. 1996-97 EX-2000 has a case hit look for every base card. So perfectly designed |
