Default Happy bday Myles Turner! I narrowed this Donruss patch down to 4 games

I typically don't go for Donruss patches because they're usually pretty small/weak. But Panini’s entering into this memorabilia dump phase of their run so it's hard telling what's gonna show up from here on out.
This card has a piece of the Motorola logo from a Hickory uniform in it, which is something I don’t think I’m going to see again. That's the kinda stuff that appeals to me. Thanks to fellow Pacers fan SteveO21 for pointing out the eBay listing to me!

After I purchased the card, I went into full-on research mode. I knew the Pacers had only been wearing Motorola patches for a couple years and I knew they only wore Hickory jerseys on a specific number of dates, too. Here’s the breakdown of what I found.

The Pacers announced a partnership with Motorola starting on December 18, 2018. Their Hickory jerseys that season were red/burgundy. The patches were white. The next season, the Hickory jerseys were white with a red/burgundy sponsor patch. That means Myles worn this patch sometime between December 18 and April 21. That’s a pretty small window.

So I went on Basketball Reference and pulled up Myles gamelog from that season and copy and pasted it into Excel. From there I went on Getty Images and looked at pictures from every game in that 5-month time frame that he played in. If they didn’t wear the Hickory jerseys that game, I removed it from the spreadsheet.

That narrowed it down to 4 games, all from 2019:

January 19 against the Mavs

February 7 against the Clippers

March 10 against the Sixers

April 7 against the Nets

I’ve been tracking the other Myles Hickory patches over time, but all this Nike stuff seems like it’s pressed on and it’s so cookie cutter…you never see any loose threads. I doubt I’ll be able to narrow it down any more from there. But I got it to 4, so I'm happy about that.

Happy bday Myles! Feel free to show off your Turner stuff in this thread!

This is excellent stuff! Do you attempt something like this for all patch cards you purchase? I can't imagine doing that for all my patches, but I also don't really keep an eye out for unique patches that might be identifiable like the Motorola patch here.

I don't do it for all patch cards, just the more unique ones. Thanks!
