Default Topps WWE Living Set

💪 Introducing to the Topps Living Set family... it's WWE!!! 💪

The Topps WWE Living Set art will feature current WWE Superstars & Legends on the iconic Topps WWF 1985 design! It will be created with artwork done by renowned sports artist Dan Bergren.

I like the look of this and I am getting back into Wrestling, so might be time to get involved with this.

Looks interesting. I may pick up some of the wrestlers from my youth and I know I will have to pick up a Kalisto for my Son if they make him.

How in the world do you not go with Hulk Hogan as #1? Just sayin... Is he not part of that universe anymore or do they don't have his rights or something... Cause that just seems like a no brainer to get this thing off the ground IMO... Steve Austin was no Hulk Hogan for the WWE!

He's had bunch of (questionable) allegations against him so they'll probably avoid him now. Hasn't been on WWE tv for a while

I was looking forward to this set, but not really a fan of the style being used so I'm out. I know these are being based off an 'iconic' design but let's try something new for once instead of a retread. Save that for WWE Heritage if it ever comes back.

There were similar misgivings at the start about the baseball and Star Wars sets. In April, MLB will hit card #400 and Star Wars will hit #200 in May.

I'm in for the first 40 of these, at least, maybe more. I'm hoping it's heavy on pre-90's wrestlers, but I suspect those might fall 1 in 10, if we're lucky.

Ummm, if we are going with allegations, then didn't Steve Austin beat his wife?

Steve Austin beat his wife, so why lead off with him then?

#1 should have been the eighth wonder of the world, from Grenoble, France...Andre The Giant.

One complication I can see with this series is, will WWE accept Topps to make cards of wrestlers who moved on to other organizations?
I would love to see a Chris Jericho card, but not sure if he is gonna be in the checklist being currently with AEW.

I watched Rufus R Jones as a kid with my dad and grandpa. Would love to see him in this.

Can Bulldog Bob Brown be eligible?

SD, Special Delivery Jones, needs a card.... as do all of the Saturday morning legends like the Brooklyn Brawler! Kamala and especially, super legend, and perennial loser, Frank Williams! That would be the best card ever.... Guy would take the L every week...

You'll see stars in this set who have active legends deals with WWE. So in other words, if they are in sets now they might be in the Living Set. Austin is iconic and popular as is Stratus and I think leaning toward the recent past with their era over the 1980s is a better choice ... plus both can promote the cards on social channels vs. stars no longer living.

Two things that bugged me on this first pairing is the purple hue chosen by the artist for the images and the font/size on names. The font isn't the correct one -- the past Topps Heritage set from 2012 was correct and this one is off. (It's an issue to me since they are using the past design and it's also odd with "Stone Cold" type being smaller than his name.) I checked out his Transcendent sketches and have no issues there ... and the purple isn't overwhelming. (Maybe it will look better printed on cardboard but here I don't like it.)

Are those two things deal-breakers? No.

However, I'm passing on this first pair figuring they will be somewhat plentiful if I ever choose to go back and grab. I'll undoubtedly get a number of names when they arrive as long as I like the art.

So the image used for Trish is just a copy of her "Moment in WWE History" card Topps is selling at the same time?

I mean its the same top, almost identical pose. Doesn't seen too original.

It may have been the photo reference, but there are plenty of artistic flourishes in the illustrated portrait. Bergren's fake boob stylings are surely on-point. Maybe that will be his specialty here, akin to Seto's mastery of both facial hair and reflections in batting helmets over on the Living baseball set.

In this regard, he will be tested.

I wish they had used a younger image of Trish. I want to see images of wrestlers in their prime, not current, "Oh look, she's had some work done on her face" images. Nobody needs a fat, old Iron Sheik or "I hope his dentures don't fall out" Flair card.
