Default Amari Cooper to Browns

Cowboys are finalizing a trade to send WR Amari Cooper and a sixth-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for a 2022 fifth-round pick and a sixth-round pick, per league sources.

I know they are low draft picks, but why trade 2 picks for a guy that will be released anyway? wonder if cleveland was worried he wouldn't sign with them after being released as he would have better options...

I share the same sentiment.

wouldn't be surprised if this was a carrot to get Watson on board to sign with the Browns and trade Baker to Houston

They said a few days ago they weren’t releasing him… it came out that multiple teams were willing to offer something in trade

This is why players should demand no trade clauses in their contracts. Poor guy

He’s raised by a single mother. Father has been in prison his whole life basically and doesn’t have a relationship with him. But yeah you can Twitter in prison.

I don’t get this but if they’re letting Jarvis seek a trade and keeping Amari, is that an upgrade or is Amari cheaper? This is weird to me.

It’s a massive upgrade

And I like Landry

It gives you way more flexibility at 13 (I still take a WR)

Landry can’t be your #1

Going to miss those smooth routes in Dallas! Happy to get something for him, hopefully we can sign Gregory now.

Twitter is saying there is also a legit market for Landry

If you can get the picks back while simply swapping Cooper and Landry?

That’s huge

Browns have way more cap space than Dallas to make it work

Glad I asked because I was a bit confused since I don’t follow the ins and outs like others do.

The Browns have agreed to trade for Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (via @RapSheet).

Cooper has caught +10.9% of his targets over expected outside the numbers since 2019, leading all receivers (min. 90 targets).

» Cooper (since 2019): 124 receptions outside the numbers (4th in NFL)

Cooper might be the best route runner in football

Which is huge for a guy like Baker

That’s where the OBJ marriage failed. Beckham has more talent than a guy like Cooper, but he freelances, and a guy like Stafford works with that

Baker needs timing

Cooper is the epitome of being where you are supposed to be when the ball is thrown

Even if that’s less “big plays”

He’s kind of a bigger and faster Landry honestly

Yeah but someone needs to throw the ball in order for him to catch it.

Browns are just a QB away from not finishing third in the AFC North.

On a more serious note, what a great add at a great price. Late round flier for a really good player on a friendly contract, especially given the market. I mean, when Christian Kirk is expected to get $15 million AAV and MVS is expected to get eight figures a year, getting Cooper on this deal for virtually nothing is a huge win.

Hopefully the Browns get a good QB. Right now it feels like Odell 2.0
