Default Top draft picks in 2022 Bowman

The checklist was recently released for 2022 Bowman 1st Edition. I was under the impression that typically it will have the same base checklist as 2022 Bowman. But I could not find some of the top draft picks from last year's draft. Khalil Watson, Jack Leiter, Matt McClain and a few others were left out of Bowman Draft, presumably to be the headliners for 2022 Bowman. I see Khalil Watson on the checklist, but no sign of Leiter or McClain. Am I overlooking something? Is there a chance they will be in 2022 Bowman, but were just not in 1st Edition? I'm a little confused. Any information would help. Thanks.

Matt McLain for the Reds will be in 22 Bowman but looks like as only an autograph. James Wood, Joshua Baez, and Trey Sweeney SHOULD be in as both autos and base, per the 1st Edition checklist. Traintos and Jordan Wicks for the Cubs should also be in as but I believe as only autos. All of the 'auto-only' players have not been released yet because the regular checklist has not surfaced. It's very possible that Leiter will be an auto-only subject but it looks like no base for him.

Gotcha. That makes sense. The auto checklist is where 1st Edition and regular Bowman differ, so the guys left out of 1st Edition are auto only guys. I do find it a bit odd such big time prospects like Leiter and McClain would be auto only, but that's no big deal. Thanks for your answer.

My theory on Leiter is that his asking price for autos is too much for Topps at present. They'll get him eventually, but when they do they're give him the full dog-and-pony, sell sheet treatment -- he's an easy headliner.

It makes more sense to hold him out than give him just base cards.

We still don't know for sure that they are auto-only in Bowman vs. possibly being in Bowman Chrome. History tells us it will be the former, but need checklist confirmation.

Max Muncy is another name left out of ‘21 Draft but who appears in ‘22 Bowman… in looking through the checklist, I think I saw like 85-90 players who are getting their First Bowman card. Of course, I don’t know who 90% of those guys are, but I guess that’s the fun thing about Bowman- open a couple boxes, stick them in the closet, go through them once or twice a year and you find some nice surprises every time

87 in the base CL (auto-only's will be incomplete until the main release).

I'm working on my writeups for P1500 now, the AL-players will drop first (90% done with that piece).
