i've sold quite a few items on ebay and have never had to deal with buyers asking for returns/refunds - hoping to get the forum's experience/thoughts. here's the situation:
listed a raw card on ebay described as 'near mint to mint condition' + no returns. buyer messages me asking about the condition (subjective question) - i personally pulled this card and it went directly into a sleeve/top loader. i re-inspected the card and didn't see any glaring flaws, which i relayed to the buyer and told them i'm not a card grader nor do i grade cards. to the naked eye, it looked good to me. the buyer proceeds to purchase, they receive the card and then immediately file a request for return/refund bc there was a small manufacturing dimple on the back... i already initiated the return, but is there any scenario where ebay would step in to protect sellers? or will they always side with the buyer despite my description of 'used/near mint to mint'? with the recent card boom, do sellers have zero recourse when selling raw cards to buyers who clearly ONLY want PSA 10 cards? PM me if you'd like the buyer's username - i'll be blocking them from future purchases. |

There will always be a way for them to return, you can fight all you want but ultimately ebay will side with the buyer or fund it themselves. Personally I would just refund and move on re sell it and have a beer ( Or a Coke ). Life is too short to stress over things that are out of our control. Even if Ebay sides with you their credit card company wont, and these kind of buyers KNOW THIS

This is why I don't sell raw cards on ebay. Move all my raw cards at show where people can see what they get and don't need to refund.

Once a buyer start asking specific questions on the conditions , I would most likely assume these are the PSA 10 chasers, and I would have just moved on.

The only thing that hurts you here is that you told them there were no imperfections and the card looks good. But even still not a whole lot you can do to stop these types of returns.

I agree, If anyone asks me for the condition I will never give them a reply other than to examine the photos to determine condition, If it is a high dollar item I will often times ask them if they would like me to provide them with additional photos. Any other answer is a no go for me.
