Default Is now the best time to sell Ohtani or hold?

I loaded up on his chrome and archives back in his rookie year and bought into the hype. Thankfully I didn't sell after everything came down and he became an injury problem. Wondering if you think hes a long term hold or if this is as good as it's going to get. I'm scared he might get another injury or cool off but he's so special and unique so I'm torn. But the prices right now are tempting

If you believe he can hit 62 HR in a season, you have to hold. I can understand the temptation though.

You think he has to break the record to keep these prices? What if he still hits 50 or more and gets MVP? I know its hard to predict these things but I'm not sure what the market is expecting for his prices to stay the same. If he keeps being mvp discussions every year like Trout is that enough or does he have to break records?

With Trout behind him? Not being argumentative, just may be hard to do.

No, I don't think he has to break the record to keep these prices. I'm merely saying that there is a ton of runway if he does.

Ok I understand thanks. Yes I think there's still a lot of room to grow but its hard to turn down these prices. I see Acuna go down and it scares me lol

This was the biggest hype he will get barring him throwing a no hitter or threatening 61hr.

Sell if you have something better to use the money for.

So... if he wins the MVP, that isn't the biggest hype according to your standards?

good to know

Can you back up two weeks ago and ask this same question of Acuna or Frano's cards? You might of gotten some no answers back then, but anyone who sold them look like geniuses.

He could hit 62 homers. He could also get hurt or slip and fall in the shower, if you sell today at least you know you sold much higher than his cards were ever at before that.

If you have credit card debt, sell. If you have other life plans you're close to achieving that require money, sell. If you are going to ask the same question again in the near future, sell. If you think he finishes the season with 100+ IP and 50+ bombs, hold.

No one ever got mad at a profit. There is a next gear for Ohtani pricing, but there is also immense downside if he gets hurt. Ironically, the situation has not really changed from his debut in 2018. It's just that prices are higher now and the upper echelon outcome is more likely.

Edit: Oh, and anyone saying "easy sell" clearly owns none of his cards and is probably at least a little salty.

Gotta sell at least some of his stuff to take advantage of all the attention.

I've sold a bunch of low end base RCs and a few higher end RCs to take profits so now I can relax while still holding some rarer stuff for the long term

I used some of my ohtani's rookies, 2018 Topps update white jersey, 2018 Topps sapphire, 2018 heritage 17 x2 to fund the majority of a 2003 mystique lebron, 2011 bc refractor trout and 2009 court kings curry auto...so I'm not too mad

Sell if you have a weak stomach. Hold if you enjoy his game and think he will increase in prices. Here is a good question for you…if PSA was open would you be selling or sending to be graded and then sell?
