Default People love buying fakes!

Do people even question things when the look off? I know, rhetorical question as we continue to see people buy those Scoreboard cards with fake autos... Looks like someone just paid a few hundred bucks to get a fake Jordan First Day:

I've put together more than a dozen complete sets and have a bunch of these - there are a few cards that have actual variation in the placement of the stamp - and some consistent error cards - but the Jordan 169 isn't one of those! If you've ever seen the card you know the first day stamp is in the wrong place (should be over the ball) - and looking at the actual auction picture you can see where the card was cut and the stamp inserted:

The seller has another one for sale right now, a little better job inserting the first day stamp, but still a fake... good times... as you were.

Good info. These puzzle me as I'm not too familiar. Do the TPGs catch these?

I say this all the time....it’s depressing, but there are so very many people out there that are dumb as bricks. Right now the news is full of stories about million dollar cards, which has created an influx of the unwashed masses who think theyve stumbled on a secret path to easy riches through flipping Jordan/Luka/Lebron/Trout/etc cards that naturally they don’t have to research at all, due to their own cleverness. Earlier today I was at target and as I was leaving the decimated, hollowed out card section there was a guy around 55 years old, in (I hope) his pajamas, smelling like the inside of the worlds seediest dive bar from 1983 complete with a half smoked cigarette literally tucked behind his ear, who walked up and greedily scooped the 40ish remaining packs of Topps Attax out of the open box on the shelf and was so unbelievably pleased with himself I thought he was going to burst. He offered to naturally spare me a couple of packs so as not to “be greedy” and I politely declined, but I find the interaction to be a great allegory for where the card market is at the moment.

I dont know anybody that trusts tpg less then me at the moment and even i think they would most certainly catch this. Its a pretty easy catch if they have ever graded any before not to mention its not hard to tell that that stamp is put on after the fact.
