Default What’s going on with this card

I’m relatively new to the hobby and am interested in Vintage. I saw this listing and the first thing that stood out was the slab case looks like nothing I have seen but maybe that is an older case? I found this exact PSA serial number on an Aaron that closed at Heritage in May 2020. Card looks nothing like this one. What is happening here?

Frosted and I've never seen that font/alignment on a PSA label. Even the earliest labels use the same font found on the modern flips.

The card Heritage sold has a completely different border. Caveat emptor.

Paging BODA

Lol so many questions but I’ll only ask two. Why does the label look like it’s been run over or stepped on with a shoe print? Why are the two bottom corners of the slab so dirty/grimy looking?

Compared to my legit copy, it screams "reprint in a cracked holder" to me.

The bidding history looks a little fishy too with the same 2-3 "bidders' driving up the price.

ahh, I didn't even look at the bidders. Wow, that's some sketchy stuff. What's the point? Are they trying to make someone FOMO their way into getting conned?

I realize I am a bit of a novice when it comes to scrutinizing PSA cards for authenticity, but ignoring the font on the label (and even the red border looks fuzzy, not crisp) that I have never seen on another PSA slab, since you have the photo of the allegedly SAME card, just looking at the two cards is very troubling. The left/right borders do not match at all. The right borders of both cards are similar, though the Heritage version is a bit wider. But, the left border on the Heritage is MUCH wider. So, the Heritage card looks to be wider on both sides, suggesting the Ebay copy is not only a different card, but trimmed/altered (assuming it is even authentic). The seller has over 1000+ feedback. Were they legitimately duped or knowingly committing fraud? Just seems like the type of card I would expect from a 2 feedback seller. As a buyer of vintage PSA cards, I wish every counterfeit was this obvious.

The one bidder has 41 bid retractions in the last 12 months. Yeah, nothing to see here people.

So, how does one go about reporting this to Ebay? I tried recently with another card but was unsuccessful as I couldn't find a way to report it. Is there still an option to do so?

Do you happen to have his eBay id? I’d love to add that clown to the blocked bidder list

Open the link and go to the bidders section, currently at 75 bids in brackets and you will see the bidders on your left. The bidder 8***4(706) is the bidder I am referring too.

Something happened with the listing. 20 bids were removed and now top is in the $400s.

I'm not taking credit for anything but I did write the seller and told him his card was a fake and to quit scamming people.
It looks like 8***4, the person with the 42 bid retractions, has removed his bids. Maybe he is a member here who thought better of his decision to shill bid this card?

Still curious, however, how to report this seller?

I would not attack the seller and assume they are trying to scam people. From their other listings and selling history, this person does not deal with cards. It looks like they sell second hand goods and could have bought this from someone else to sell. Or they got ripped off themselves. The bidder running up the price could have done this because they are selling a Hank RC as well.

Someone who has absolutely no history of selling cards and has good feedback like this seller should not be attacked. I would nicely send them a message stating that this card is a fake and give them the evidence posted on the forums. This seller is most likely trying to scam anyone. They may have been the one scammed in the past.

I'm curious, what are the two holes near the bottom corners of the label ? They
look like the back of screw holes? not sure looks very strange. Besides all the other stuff that was found on this thread.

Fair enough, but it's not like he is a long time, well regarded seller with a feedback of 40. It reeks scam to me as he says the cert is verified. If he actually took the time to check the cert, he would easily see it is not the same card nor the same flip.

Also, if the seller was above board, why didn't he reply to my message asking at least more questions, or thanking me for pointing it out, etc?

If you messaged me out of the blue calling me a scammer, I would not respond to you as well. Simple as that. If you attack someone they will not reply with a thank you.

This person probably knows nothing about cards. They have never sold one before. Knowing about PSA grading means you know about cards. This person sells used electronics and weird stuff from 30 to 40 years ago.
