Default Would you ever add your PC player's actual NBA game debut ticket to your collection?

I realized that PSA actually starts grading NBA game tickets. Debut game tickets for players are like the rookie cards.

I find it pretty unique and much closer to the actual "game", even more so than game used patch and auto on cards, the game ticket where say LeBron played his very first game feels so much closer to the actual game in term of historical significance. Thinking about dabbling into debut tickets.

Do you think the increased popularity cards will spread to game tickets?

A few examples I find on ebay, they look quite nice actually

LeBron's debut ticket

Zion's debut ticket

https://www.ebay.com/itm/114554200723

Tom Brady's debut ticket

If I went to the game, most definitely.

I can definitely see the appeal to some people. I prob wouldnt personally buy if I didnt go to the game.. ALthough a Jordan rookie game ticket would be kinda fire (and Im sure expensive as hell)

100% am a buyer, even for games I didn't go to. Cool historical mementos. I recently picked up 2007 ecf game 5 ticket, Bron 25pts in a row finishing game 29 of cavs last 30pts (if i recall correct).

Wow that's a special game I remember that!

Do you think ticket values will see increase like with cards? unlike card companies the tickets are much rarer, there only so many key games for a player (debut, career high, final cliniching, signature playoff game) and let alone be in acceptable condition ... I am willing to allocate some portion of my hobby fund into tickets just wanna see if you'all think there's potential for ticket hobby to pick up some steams.

Yeah, that was the game that woke me up on Lebron, feel like it was his major breakout, first legendary performance.

Ticket values? sure, I think there is potential there but I honestly have no clue, it's its own niche. I'm too new to the arena to feel comfortable making any guesses, so hopefully others with wider scope and knowledge can give you their input.

I'd like to pick up some more tickets from some of the major career-defining games of players I like. I really like the historical aspect of the tickets and the connection to the event. Depending on the ticket, one of the thing's that can be missing is visual appeal. But I feel that if the draw of the ticket's historical aspect is enough for you (or whoever is collecting it), that aspect can outweigh the visual factor. I think it's a fun corollary to cards, tickets and cards kind of go nicely together imo.

Hard pass.

I’ve had season tickets for 20 years

Teams (all of them... Cleveland and Ohio State) killed it with the app

My OCD can’t handle it

I wonder if more teams doing without actual tickets, will they be more desirable for the nostalgic factor in the future .. maybe?

I suppose it's kind neat, as long as it's not too expensive.

For the most part people don't even really care that much about their debut game worn jersey, so a ticket won't generate a heck of a lot of interest (unless they're a star of course).

I know this is a few weeks old but I love tickets, I collect a lot of them. Just got some back today.

I collect a mix of sports, game types, players, eras, etc. Debut are among the best for sure. I don't really know if they are profitable but I like them and that's why I collect so that's my thought process.

There are fans/collectors of vhs, so why not. I think it needs to be of a truly historic even tho.

And honestly, if I wasn't there I don't think I'd care about it as more than an investment.

For me it's not really relevant if I was there. Same way that I collect cards for players I never saw in person or on live TV. And lots of people collect game used for items they did not see used. I think the if-you-were-there factor is small in the ticket market.

For me it's more so a cool snapshot of the design style of the times and also a cool physical link to a historic event in the sport. I only collect tickets of major moments though. And I avoid ugly tickets or generic ticketmaster ones, wherever possible. I only own one TM stub I can think of. PSA recently started grading TM stubs so they may become more collectible now but I'm still personally not a fan, PSA or not.

I like to keep tickets of events I went to. Most memorable one was the warriors playoff game where Baron Davis dunked over AK-47 while my eardrums blew. Have it framed still.

Flip side- I hate digital or mobile tickets. End of the physical ticket. Only way would be to buy a season holders used ticket right?

I’ve said it many times but what’s one more...hate hate hate the digital ticket change. Many teams are exclusively doing this except print out (worse than Ticketmaster) if you leave tickets or ones you get when they scan your phone. I have some Byron coaching milestones and his last game (playoff) ever. I almost bought his first game ever but started looking for it a week after one sold.

Made a point of saving these. In retrospect, I should have tried to do some post-game wheeling & dealing for more.

Still have my 2008 Celts Finals stubs. Also kept Brady vs Jets in 2001 and his first start vs Colts

I also have my UNC v Dook ticket in the Dean Dome watching Carter, Jamison, Cota, et al smoke the #1-ranked team by 24.

Also that game has the greatest missed dunk of alltime by Vince off a lob from Cota off the backboard, I was sitting behind it and Vince's eyes almost came out of his head and he jumped so high and threw it down so hard he backrimmed it.
