Default $500 to spend on 90s NBA

I'm thinking of giving myself $500 to spend on a box of '90s NBA cards. Maybe it would make more sense to use that money to buy singles, but I kinda want the thrill of getting to open a box from that era.

What set would you go with?

Topps Series 2 or Fleer Series 2. Maybe Stadium Club Series 1 (96-97).

1996 Topps Stars if you enjoy the NBA top 50 players. No rookies.

Strong condition raw Kobe rc is probably your best bet right now. Kobe market will continue strong and may be the hottest of all (yes over mj) this year leading up to hof induction. Not sure packs from 90s is the best bang, not at all.

If you are trying to make money, just buy a bunch of topps base rookies of whatever HOF or Fringe HOF player you think will pop next. Ray Allen, Ginobilli, Parker, Hill, Kidd, Nash, mcgrady...shoot...maybe even mutombo? I can see a thread about finger wagging, best defensive C, blah blah blah...although he doesnt have a topps rookie, so that will hurt him...

But if you want a fun rip, I like Stadium club, photographs are generally great, a chance at some hard to get inserts/parallels, but...big but for all 90's boxes...they may stick together when you open them. Most people didnt store them very well because it was mostly "junk wax".

Also anything 1998-99 is nice because it was Jordan's last years with the bulls...I was going to write last year, because who really pictures him on the Wiz...

Yeah, I was thinking more of a fun rip rather than investing. Obviously seems like if I'm in it for investment purposes, then singles make way more sense.

my last 90s box I busted was a 1995 Topps Series 2

Had a handful of Garnett Rcs and some decent inserts.

95/96 Flair is about $600

Otherwise I'd go 93 Fleer Ultra.

Also make sure once you settle on a box, check whether or not that year/brand sticks together in the packs. The last thing you want to do is rip packs with cards stuck together...which I guess is a knock for stadium club which I recommended

1998-99 Stadium Club Series 2:

- Dirk, Vince, Pierce rookies

- Co-Signers autographs which includes Duncan and Kobe in the checklist (might be redemptions so I would verify this since I'm not sure)

- Other insert sets such as Chrome, Wing Men, Royal Court, Triumvirate, Prime Rookies. A lot of these have rookies in the checklist.

- First Day Issue and One of a Kind parallels

- MJ is in the base set so you could chase the parallels. He's also in the Never Compromise and Royal Court insert checklist
