Leeds United - Riqui Puig [Barcelona]

Has been linked for a number of months now with a view to a loan move.

Adama Traore to Leeds is lazy journalism.

Arsenal also linked with Puig.

Honestly Dani Ceballos has been sub par, and finding CAM's that have the physically for the premier league, La Liga is not where I would be looking

I've also heard we're looking at Nkunku and Buendia as possibilities. I think the worry with Puig is that he isn't ready to be a regular yet. Nkunku was someone Mislintat and Emery really wanted to sign in Jan 2019 but Tuchel veto'd it due to his fall out with Mislintat at Dortmund. Buendia is on quite a few radars as he sticks out like a sore thumb on the analytic side but indiscipline and lack of defensive effort are a problem. The main problem with both though is neither are natural number 10's, both prefer to come in from the right. If we can get either for a decent price (Nkunku might be expendable with Szoboszlai now at RBL) I'd go for it but I wouldn't break the bank for a stopgap.

I've heard the Bellerin to Barcelona and Lamptey to Arsenal story, I'd like to see it which means it probably won't happen. More worryingly though we're looking at Diego Costa who is trying to get his contract at Atletico terminated. The very last thing we need is another 30+ malcontent, it's no coincidence our best football this season has been with the youngsters.

I wouldn't want him at Leeds. He's skinny and tiny. Koeman seems to be suggesting he's lazy. The only way I see him coming to Leeds is to spend a year in the u-23's and that aint happening on loan.

Big no.

We can send Dani back in January, TBH. He has done nothing to impress me this season outside of a few games early, and has regressed a lot. Pretty bad when Arteta prefers Elneny over him

Elneny has been one of Arsenal's better players this season.

Not saying much, I know...

Puig would be the best player in that side. He has tremendous vision, passing range, and ability to keep possession. Koeman plays favorites instead of letting the best players play.

He’d be a top 10 AM in the PL.

He's played 744 minutes of football in his entire career, and 5 minutes of league football this year, unfortunately this is real life and not football manager.

He also plays in the same position as Mateusz Klich, who is our most consistent creative outlet. If you pushed Puig further up, he'd be competing with record signing Rodrigo.

If we did sign Puig it would be for the u-23 side, as he'd need a few months to get used to Murder Ball.

You don't know who Bielsa is do you?

Puig might have talent that can be nurtured but the January window is more about filling an immediate need. At around 56kg he'd also be comfortably the lightest player in the Premier League, even the likes of Cazorla and D. Silva were around the same height but about 10kg heavier. Teams would go after him mercilessly making it difficult for him to adapt to a new league quickly enough to be worth it as a loan or January transfer. He'd be better off as a project signing, bulk up, full preseason, u23's, etc.

Might all be moot though it sounds like Barcelona are going to enact a clause in his contract to extend it to 2023 and no longer want to loan him out

Rice to Chelsea will not happen this January, but most likely will be made in the Summer Window. Expect some exodus occurring with Chelsea though and hopefully a signing of a desperately needed Winger.

That's important as it opens up a squad registration spot for a new signing as we had filled our allotment of foreign over 21 players. I'd also expect a home grown qualified GK to replace Runarsson who has been hopeless to free another spot.

Edit: I will give Kolasinac credit for willing to take a pay cut so he can get regular football, unlike a certain teammate of his. I actually think he's a decent wing back, he can do a job for someone there, but he was awful as a full back and in a back three.

this one was because of the transfer fee played, the fact that they paid that much for a guy who has played less than 30 minutes of 1st team football in Italy? Outrageous.

Man Utd are a Europa league-esque club buddy, average league finish of 5th since 2012/13, eight years ago. /s

Jokes aside is anyone really surprised Man Utd are splashing cash on this kid? They are desperate.

Interestingly they are also after another player with the same agent as Diallo, Hamed Traore. Oddly, pretty much the only players the agent has on his books.

Just wanted to highlight this one because I love this kid. Hate to see him leave Philly, but thrilled for him to get the opportunity to play in Europe. Aaronson gets the press, but McKenzie was far more valuable to the team last season. Fast, strong, composed, and can play out of the back with either foot. Maybe I am a homer, but I would not be surprised at all if he is starting for the US in 2022 (assuming we qualify).

Julian Brandt to arsenal seems to be quietening down a bit , second choice at Dortmund until injuries recently. Has a cheap obsidian but don't think he has that much potential even if he comes. Will be interested to see schobzlai v Liverpool in the champions league. Haven't actually heard any rumours about rice to Chelsea but the move has always made sense to me. I think he starts in every midfield in the league

Rice/Phillips is going to be interesting for England for a while.

I can see Rices future as a ball playing CB though rather than a DM.

Not sure he'd displace Ndidi at Leicester City either, or Rodri, Fabinho, Neves, Partey...

Think he's a lot more mobile than neves, rodri and Fabinho at least. Fabinho the only one I'd have ahead of him out of that list and maybe partey as he gets injury free
