2021 Collecting Goals/Wants

How are you looking to improve your collection this year?

For me:
1) Get a match worn/signed item of Leo (Just did!)
2) Upgrade/get graded my Messi Megacracks (non-rc) and other early cards
3) Get an on card auto from this year if one is produced and/or a Superfractor
4) Get any nice looking cards that aren’t too expensive (like Immaculate base)
5) Save money for the match worn shirt that might become available some day...

My biggest goal is to get as many cards graded as I can. Right now I have just under 400 total, but I'll have to break them up into groups, since I don't have the money to grade them all at once.

I would also like to invest in certain unopened product, but again money is a factor for me.

I'm also hoping to actually get to go to an MLS game this year. I hope they start allowing fans again. I have been to several DC United games in the past, but I was working in a concession stand, so I didn't ever get to watch much of the games. I just want to go and be a fan for once.

My Collecting Goals for 2021:

1. Get a complete set of the West Ham Immaculate base cards, as well as West Ham silvers in the upcoming EPL Prizm.
2. Grade rookie cards that I don't plan on keeping for the long haul (I don't keep graded cards for my own collection, I prefer them raw).
3. Find the Kevin Molino and Ike Opara blue base parallel from 2020 Topps MLS.
4. Purge my collection of common cards to give to kids on Halloween.
5. Create a cool display for each of my small collection sets.
6. To not overspend on hyped up wax, but also still buy some because it's a fun part of the hobby at the end of the day.

Me too, Obenheimer. I'm hoping to get back to Allianz Field to watch Minnesota United play with a full crowd. It's such a great venue.

1. Sell more stuff than I do and offset MORE of the buying. Always a goal. Better effort at "if it doesn't bring you joy get rid of it" mentality.

2. Irrationally build another parallel set. Thinking maybe 18-19 Bundesliga blue refractor. Nice mix of availability/price. Maybe purple /250 from Topps Chrome Match Attax.

3. I THINK I want a Reyna Topps Now #100 PSA 10.

4. (non soccer) - I'd like to add some Brennen Davis cards before he blows up more than he has. Specifically a handful of the Applied Pressure autos and then maybe some of the Topps Update Prospect parallels.

1. Get the last 4 Ballon d'or winner rookies I need, or at least reduce that number.
2. Sell more non core collection cards, especially once I eventually get back my PSA submissions.
3. Pick up a few more autos of Arsenal players
4 (non football) Decide whether I'm going to continue or not with my NFL HOF rookie registry set, started it about 10 years ago and am a third of the way through (I have Namath, Payton, Montana, etc) but a lot of the modern cards are going to be big roadblocks, eg you'll need a SP Brady. Refractor Brees, etc

Blue Wave I thought about too, but way tougher of a sled. I at least have 90% of the cards that actually cost more money than it does to ship them with the /199s.

1. Complete the Road to France auto set from 2018 Donruss (need Harris, Rapinoe and Sauerbrunn)
2. Pick up auto Barca jerseys of Xavi and Iniesta
3. Find a Messi Spotlight auto from Noir (then have sufficient funds set aside to buy)

2. Reduce the size of my collection by sending all the unwanted cards to comc

3. Buy rare cards of Messi and Ronaldo

Some great goals. May you all reach your card objectives.


1). Similar to what was noted earlier, quality over quantity. This means reducing the collection to only what I want to keep for years. Ideally, this would mean getting rid of all except one top card of each player I like, and even more specific, finding a card of each player that is under /99 print run, or low PSA 10 pop.

2). One nice Haaland low print run rookie card.

3). One additional lower print (/199) Mbappe rookie card (Select/TC/Prizm/Optic).

Get a lot of the cards graded.

5- Land a nice 1/1 card from one of the 4 players mentioned above.

I think it may take years for his prices to even out, Panini are going to keep the runs limited just to push more expensive but low end quality products with him being the main pull.

I agree though, Becks would be a great addition to any collection.
