Default 1999 Topps Flipped Backs - Corrected or Just a Design Flaw?

Howdy all. A question especially for you fellow set builders (I know there have to still be a few of you out there!)...

Given that folks have noticed the flipped or upside-down backs on some of the 2020 Updates, it's brought up a question I've been meaning to ask that I happened to notice, and apparently never did way back when, after I recently bought a small collection that had a number of 1999 Topps base cards in it.

Going back through my original set and the fairly small number of dupes I still have, in Series 1 it looks #1, 13, 34, 62, 84, 85, 95, 96, 143, and 174 are all oriented so that if you flip the card over front-to-back, the card number and Topps logo are on the left side of the back vs. the right as with the rest of the cards in Series 1, and all in Series 2.

I have not seen anything posted anywhere about this here or elsewhere, so I'm guessing that just like with the 2020 Updates, these weren't ever caught or fixed, but if someone else might be able to confirm that, I'd appreciate it, especially since I know there were some Prospects variation cards in 1997 Topps Series 2 that had backs oriented both ways - actually need to post that list on TCDB as those aren't listed there.

Thanks!

I noticed it as well when I was building my set, drove me crazy. I sleeved the whole set once I finished so i was reminded of it again when I did that.

I imagine I probably did, too, but I was in school at the time so I'm sure I was distracted by other stuff - not including homework and studying for exams.

I believe the same thing happened in this year's 2020 Topps Update.

Just a printing error, sloppy on Topps' part to not QC those.
