Default Better buy right now -- Ohtani or Yamamoto?

Curious to see what the members think about this one.

I'm not even a Dodgers fan but I'm still in awe of their incredible talents.

Ohtani 99.99% unless your looking for a 12 month or less flip

Ohtani is going to have MJ status for generation to come.

Yamamoto would have been the answer before the playoffs started

This. I agree Yamamoto has potential for a much larger near term percentage bump if he does very well next season. He'd need to be the second coming of Koufax to be the better long term buy.

Ohtani is locked in as an all time great. He has MVPs, WS rings, statistical milestones, memorable moments, and he’s broken through the sphere of baseball. He’s known globally by even casual observers.

As I said in the other thread, there’s no bad time to buy Ohtani. It’s just a matter of how much you want to spend.

Yeah, if you were to ask 100 people who consider themselves "casual" fans (as in watch a handful of games a year and parts of the World Series) to name 1 current baseball player, I bet the vast majority would name Ohtani first.

One could argue that Yamamoto has the more memorable moment (so far) between the two though.

3 wins in a single World Series, including a relief appearance with 0 days of rest to save a game that Ohtani almost gave away, that's something.

Definitely a memorable moment for Yoshi. He had an all-time great World Series. His prices are wildly inflated at the moment though, and his floor is miles lower than Ohtani’s.

In terms of memories I'll be talking about 10 years from now, I'd probably rank Yoshi's WS below the 50/50 game, the 3HR/10K game & the WBC Sho/Trout AB. It was an absolutely historic WS moment that I spent like 15 minutes waxing poetic about to my mom in hopes she would grasp the significance. Stunning, legendary performance but I'm not sure it cracks my top-3 memorable moments between the two.

I'm curious if the Jays would have pitched to Ohtani had Rojas gotten out. Would have been bases empty, 2 outs with Ohtani up.
Guessing they would have since they pitched to him in a tie game.

If they were both only pitchers, it would be Yamamoto. But then it wouldn't matter because you never buy pitchers...

dollar wise Yomamota as 98% of Ohtani stuff is overpriced IMO. I wouldn't touch anything base of Ohtani RC's it's so overproduced.
