Default USPS - Scanning tracking at Local PO

Anyone else experiencing odd USPS tracking updates lately?

I've dropped off about 15 packages at my local post office, and only a couple were scanned in under tracking at the local post office. I will say this post office has had their "drop box" broken for like 5 years. So i either drop them off at the counter, or slide it into the mail slots.

But my local post office doesn't scan them, but tracking appears 5-14 days later in another state, ready for delivery. It often looks to the buyers, that it's take me weeks to ship. In one case, it's been 2-3 weeks and there hasn't been any updates?!? I assume it will pop up soon, but wtf.

So far I've had 2 cases brought up to me over poor tracking with USPS delays.

Anyone else experiencing this??

I haven’t had any complaints but it is routine for a lot of my stuff not to get scanned until near its destination.

Dropped two at the counter yesterday and only one got scanned in. Strange.

It's the USPS...you expect them to actual tell you where a package is at any point in time? lol

Happened to me with a pretty high value card. Thought I was going to have to refund but the package eventually got scanned in the destination state.

I dropped off 4 packages last week in Los Angeles. All 4 got routed through San Francisco for some reason even though there was one delivery address just outside of LA, and a couple on the east coast. It looks like they're all eventually being delivered though which is a relief.

I make sure I get a drop off receipt with all of the packages scanned on it. I have also seen packages from the east coast take 3 weeks for a delivery to the midwest because of the disruption going on with the post office.

Thanks for the feedback... i am used to my post office by work scanning them in at the location. I wasn't aware that other other post offices didn't do this. So odd to me.

Hopefully they arrive at their destination states soon.

Before when id drop off my packages it would say accepted item as soon as they scanned it but ever since the virus most of them don't get scanned into the system until they’re close to the delivery city.

I've had several delayed shipments going to the Midwest too (I think Michigan and Indiana), everything else seems to get to customers quickly

What I've noticed is that if I drop off priority mail packages with first class packages, the priority mail gets scanned but the first class won't show up as scanned until the next day.

Yep, had this problem all the time. Workers only scan 1 out of 5-10 packages unless you go to the counter and have a clerk scan them all. The workers will enjoy your visits if you start doing this often since its much easier and less of a hassle than the typical customer.

USPS has been frustrating lately...

1) Dropped package off Thursday for KS delivery, went to KS, then went to MA, then back to KS...buyer messaged me asking about it
2) Dropped package off Thursday, not a single scan until Monday night, at the same post office I dropped it off at?? Makes me look like I shipped an order 5-6 days later, not good!
3) Package coming to me...says it is being forwarded to a different address last night, freaked out, turns out it was delivered to the wrong local post office

Normally have maybe 1 issue all month with USPS, past couple days alone several...

The only way to ensure that your outgoing mail will enter the tracking system in a timely manner, is to walk it into the post office and only leave with a receipt in hand, which documents their having received and scanned in the item(s). Anything short of this will result in a crap shoot as to when and/or where the items will be scanned, if at all.

Obviously, this is much more interesting of a task in the age of COVID, but if you're worried about performance ratings and feedback, this is the only solution.

Maybe it’s an issue at certain post offices? I usually drop off packages when I take off for work, around 6-630. Typically everything is scanned by 11. Saturdays are awesome though, anytime I ship Saturday packages are delivered Monday

I've noticed some of my packages just show "in transit" for many days where in the past it used to be scanned at multiple places along the delivery. USPS is definitely a little slower and maybe overwhelmed the past few months.

Tracking scans on a lot of packages definitely is a bit more sparse these days with the pandemic. I've had numerous customers contact me about lack of updates on parcels. But they seem to right themselves once they reach the destination city.

I've had one (a purchase, not a sale) that's been "in transit to next facility" for a week straight now...it's definitely lost somewhere. Ugh.

Oh ya, i’ve noticed things running much differently with my packages with usps lately.

Dropped off a package early this afternoon. Still don’t see it as being scanned in. Pickup was at 530pm, where is the item? Someone break into the mail dropbox at the PO? When items do get scanned in, delivery is always ‘running late’ but eventually the item gets there without any real problems, just not as up-to-date as pre-covid19.

So I sent a higher dollar card to a Kansas buyer Saturday early afternoon from Maryland. As I mentioned above, the USPS never actually scanned it. It hasn't been scanned at subsequent locations either. Something wrong with the barcode? In any case, I'm afraid that I'm at the buyer's mercy. If they say the card never arrived, I'm screwed right? I asked them to give until mid-next week.
