Default Star Wars Celebration is headed to Anaheim, August 27-30, 2020

Tickets will be available Friday, June 21st @ 9:00am PT

I'm wondering if Disneyland will have extended park hours so people attending the con can go to everything at the con and then the park after.

I feel like the week before and after will be crazy busy for Star Wars land there.

What I'm not sure of is what will be featured at Celebration 2020.

Maybe a movie announcement or two, but surely no footage since 2022 is the next release, so over 2 years away from the con.

Disney+ content will likely be the main panels and maybe they're get the sequel trilogy cast like Daisy to do photo ops and autos.

I seriously doubt Daisy will do any photo ops or auto sessions. We might have to wait til she's 80 like Ford and do mail orders.

Unless I get into the Art Show, I'll be skipping this one. As much fun as Chicago was (it really was an amazing experience), I can't justify the cost again so soon.

Can someone please show me where the value in the $900 VIP ticket is? An exclusive pin, patch, poster and tumbler? Unless you plan on spending $10,000 in the store, it just isn't there. Early entry to panels? Whoopee!!

Guaranteed entry with no worry for the lottery panels on the main stage at Celebration Chicago was worth it for me. Early entry to the show floor is good to obtain vendor exclusives that aren't lotteries. Fast lane into the show store was great. Access to a lounge was nice to get away from everything for a bit and sit down and eat a sandwich. As was exclusive coat check in Chicago. That perk might depend on the weather and how much merch/freebies you get that you might not want to carry around all day.

Did they nix the celebrity meet and greets this time? Last time we had what was basically a private auto session with Doug Chiang and Ashley Eckstien. There was a little more chance for interaction with Doug Chiang because not as many people took advantage of it but they had a problem moving 500+ (maybe even 700+, we couldn't nail down exact VIP numbers) VIPs through the Ashley line. There wasn't enough time to move people through the line just for a quick auto and zero interaction during her availability window the first night. They had to bring her back the next morning for a little while and people were still shut out. They had to give them vouchers for a free auto at her line at Topps.

I didn't do autographs in Chicago and it seems Topps has the scheduling of specific times to get autos running better anyway so there doesn't seem to be as much of a line to skip there anymore.

I think as they make the con experience better by being able to avoid time in lines by perfecting their scheduling app for the store and panels and autos, the advantages of the VIP pass decrease, even as the price goes up every con.

I'm glad you felt like you got your money's worth. Myself, I find it hard to put a $$ amount on anything you mentioned. I feel like I'd rather "deal" than pay the extra. It's definitely different strokes.

Well worth it, no waiting in lines to get into the exhibit hall (or panels if that was your thing)
I was able to get art prints that were sold out by the time the main floor opened, I was able to skip the holocron line for Galaxies Edge, I was able to skip all auto lines for autographs and skip all photo opp lines.
A print (that I sold for $100)
Patch, lanyard, poster, program, a specific lounge with drinks
meet and greet with Ashley Eckstein and Dough Chiang (sorry on the spelling)
4 free t shirts (which they gave out as vouchers)
A pin (which I sold for $50)
Early exhibit hall entrance for the book (sold for $100)
access for Anthony Daniels auto after he closed shop for the day

The best part was being in row 1 for the IX Panel and enjoying the energy and seeing all the cast

In short was able to see and do a ton of different things with minimal line waiting

Did you FINALLY get your lanyard and patch this week?

The extra Ashoka badge art sort of print was nice. It would look good with a silver ink auto on it.

So did I. Her auto looks good on that one too. It was fortuitous that they handed that out at the panel right before the meet and greet.

I can see it being a time saver if you want to do everything. I had a regular pass (which nobody even needed because they never checked them ) and never waited in much of a line for anything. The longest lines I waited in were for Timothy Zahn and the panel giveaways, each was maybe 1/2 hour. All the panels we did we rolled up at the last minute and walked right in, no lines at that point - wasn't concerned with being up front or in the arena. Even got into some of the spillover rooms for panels that we didn't win lotteries for as they were letting anybody in. Walked right into the store by using the Lightspeed pass on the app.

I guess what I'm getting at is, at least for myself, the last con was more than manageable without having to spend a ton more than the base ticket. I had a fantastic time and don't feel like I missed out on anything.

For sure that is awesome
I think if you go the auto / "exclusive gimmick" route it will add value, the fact that you were able to do everything you wanted is a huge win in terms of organization

Is there no meet n greet in Cali? I didn't see it as an option for the VIP pass

What panels are actually gonna be worth seeing this time around? Most of the original cast is dead or not doing these conventions, there won't be a new movie to hype for some time, I could see guaranteed entry when Fisher, Hamill, and some of the other big actors were doing em. It was nice to sit down and see the interviews and be able to ask questions, and back then VIP was $450... $900 for a panel with the new cast doesn't seem like a deal to me. Not sure how much they will have as far as a trailer for the next movie in 2022 or whenever the next one comes out.

I wish Reed didn’t feel the need to put passes on sale 14 months prior to the event. I’ve never been fast enough to get VIP and will probably not try this time. Really have to weigh whether it’s worth it to tie up $2k for that long. I guess pretty soon you will have to buy passes for the next Celebration at the current Celebration.

I was able to see and get everything I wanted and then some in Chicago without VIP or lottery wins so I will probably stick to the normal plan anyway. Good luck to everyone that is trying to go VIP!

I am only going one day, which day is best? I will want a couple autos depending who is there and to check out everything. Panels are whatever for me so I am not concerned with getting to go to one of them.

I am thinking Saturday or Sunday, any tips on best day to go?

Saturday’s are the busiest days, by far, so there are more people in the lines you want to be in. Thursday is typically the least attendance. It was Monday in Chicago but it looks like that was a one time experiment with having 5 days. Sunday is good also as many have flights to catch before the end of the show.

The other side of attendance is that some guests aren’t there all 4 days and it’s more likely that 100% of autograph guests will be there Saturday with less in attendance on Thur-Fri.

I mean, considering it's 14mos out and guests and signings/ops aren't finalized til 1 month out (or less!) it's all a gamble right now.

Some guests only can go 1 day or 2, not the full time, so that's another concern.

I went with Saturday for the one day I am able to go. How many autographs can I realistically get on Saturday and still have time to check everything else out?

You could theoretically spend the entire day getting autographs, if that's what you really want to do. You'll never be able to see everything in one day, anyway. I was in Chicago for 4 days and I'm still learning about things I didn't see while I was there.

This is nuts. I mean how'd Celebration go from 2017 when tickets were on sale for months before selling out various levels to now selling out in the first weekend?

They haven't really ramped up too much differently. The OT cast has mostly passed away or doesn't attend (Ford and now Hamill) and 2020 won't have any major movie trailers, it'll be TV and theme park focused I bet.

I had fun when I went in 2017 but they'd really need to add a lot for me to devote a whole vacation budget to it any time soon.

I got my 4 day pass but didn't get in anywhere soon enough to even sniff VIP. I can't believe 4-days sold out in just over an hour. And then Saturday soon after that. And the hotel site was a nightmare. Never even got to book anything there. I'm not sure where all the hype is coming from in recent years. I guess it's just FOMO so people are jumping on the purchase sooner and sooner every Celebration? I never dreamed I would have to log in right away just to not miss 4 day passes.

Maybe people are hoping Jones and Oz would show up for the ESB anniversary panel, but who knows.

Even if they do, it's like a 99.9% chance they won't be around for autos or photo ops.

Frank Oz would be the one person I'd most like to meet but he's weird about signing and I'd say this convention is about 50/50 fans and scalpers.

Just look at Disney with those black kyber crystals where idiots are paying $300+ online for them! It's nuts.
