Each shoe was worn by Michael Jordan in the clinching game of each of his six NBA Championships with the Chicago Bulls.

wow
https://www.sothebys.com/en/articles...nship-sneakers

the only thing that would make it more complete is MJ signing all 6

and the other shoe in each pair of course

so where's Mr. Russell's 11 shoes

Do they wash the shoes before putting them up for auction/autographing, or are they simply as is after the game?

As for ultimate game-used collectibles, I'd have to think jerseys. Then sports-specific ones (game-used balls; helmets in football and baseball; bats and gloves in baseball - gloves most importantly for Gold-Glovers.) Then jock straps

I’m a guy that collects cardboard and I find collecting shoes to be off-putting

A "complete set" of six shoes without a single complete pair.

Why would they? You think MJ wore the same shoes all season?

The fact that one is the opposite foot to the others has me cringing.

Very cool pieces though, the one with the red sole with white trim is easily the most eye-catching.

I collect cards because they don’t smell funny.

It’s brilliant honestly. Sell half for millions and keep the other half in your collection. Then if you want sell the other half of the pairs later for even more money.

Bill Russell probably used 1 pair of shoes 11 times, than threw them away because it was shot.

From a sports memorabilia investment standpoint, NBA game-worn shoes are about as solid as it gets. Basketball literally created the sneaker culture, and although it is massive...it is also just now in its infancy. Its only going to continue to grow. Look no further than RC shoe contracts, and how hard companies push to get a guy to wear their brand. The shoes that a specific player wears is WAY more important than in any other sport. For alot of players, the shoes on their feet mean more than the team name on the jersey.

In all sports, game worn jerseys or uniforms have always held collectability/ value, as well as the equipment used. (Helmets, bats, gloves, balls etc...) But as referenced above...NBA game-worn shoes hit a little different, because of how huge the sneaker culture is. Valuations are crazy.

Wait.

Do signed, game-worn shoes of All-Stars really go for under 70 bucks? That sounds insanely cheap.

I am amazed that those went as cheap as they did.

The OG Steph collectors are nuts, or use to be. Perfect piece for Poopini/Fanatics to buy and put into cardboard instead of their $149 MSRP brand new fake GU swatches. Literally GU is cheaper than new non GU lol

From what I've heard, Jordan kept the other shoe for himself

Correct. That's why I didn't bother responding to him.

Also;

Wouldn't surprise me if those J's came from Kenny G. Perfect Pair's been the curator of the greatest 23 foot fetish gallery in the metaverse.
