Default SlabMags, when do you use?

I only have one card worthy at $30k. When do you use these mags? They look great with the matching color way!

Or, do you think it’s a waste of money? They run around $25-30 each.

I can understand it if you’re talking 5 figure cards and want to protect the slab, but nothing changes the fact they look awful to me.

Out of curiosity what’s your 30k card?

First time I've ever heard on them. Makes sense for very rare & very expensive cards that you wouldn't want to take the risk of getting damaged to re-holder a scratched or damaged slab at some point in the future.

They're 10x as opaque as a BGS slab. Hard pass.

I must be thinking of another brand that only covers the sides. That sounds even worse.

What the hell are people doing with their slabs that they need to protect them with something?

What a pointless product

My question is who protects the slab mag while it protects your slab? Sounds to me like we need a slab mag mag.

Judging by the condition some of the slabs are in that come to me from ebay, people use them to line the bottom of sleds as they slide down a gravely mountainside.

which is crazy because I feel like they are pretty durable. I've never had an issue with a slab

“Perfect fit” slab sleeves and the scratch problem is gone

Cardboard Gold and Superior Fit are the brands that come to mind

All slabs should come with a sleeve from the grader. I never understood why PSA doesn't do that.

They gotta be just throwing them in a stack with no sleeve and letting cutomers jimmy with them on the daily or something. No clue how they sustain so much damage. Always ticks me off too, cause unlike a ratty toploader or one-touch I either have to crack it or have it reslabbed which is a pain in the rear comparatively.

I started out with slabmags, pretty soon I was protecting those with slabbrix. So I decided to build a house with them. The ultimate security. What I didn't realize was that the residence was on an active fault zone. Lesson learned. Now I send em down to the bottom of lakes as slabsubs.

Svalbard Slab Bank. Protect your key collectibles against the end of the world. That way scientists can go into deep freeze and repopulate the collectibles market once the world is survivable again.

Not only the collectables market. That DNA embedded in sweat-stained patches finally came to use. AI alpha robots had to use what was available. Slabs saved the earth. They also were able to make use of a couple Topps Heritage dinosaur fossil cards. The rest was dust.

simple - money

according to the best numbers i could find, so not sure how accurate they are, psa graded 1.27 million cards in july 2024. for math sake, let's round that down to an even 1 million per month.

a case of sleeve can run $0.02 - $0.03 cents per sleeve. let's say psa can get that cost down to $0.01 per sleeve. that is $10,000 per month on sleeves at a million cards per month which is not a cost they are going to eat. so it will be passed on the customer.

if you look at their pricing structure, all of the prices below the express level end in $x.99, everything over express level ends in $x.00. i am guessing they would not all of a sudden change that structure to end in $x.05 to get 5 cents back per sleeve, so they would probably bump the price up a $1 to cover that penny sleeve.

Have you tried stacking 100 cards that are in sleeves on top of each other? I'd prefer they dont do it. That way when PSA ships them, they are stacked tightly during shipping. Less chance for damage.
