Hey all, been quite a while. I have maybe an uncommon question.
Does anyone know print run numbers for Topps releases? I'm specifically asking about 1 card in particular. 2019 Topps Allen & Ginter (& X) #160 Matt Mercer. I have a substantial collection of all variants of that card and am just wondering what kind of chunk I've put together? Across all variants I'm sitting at 1050 total cards. 530 are base cards. Of the ~150 cards with known print numbers I've got 29, almost 20%, including all 3 unframed 1/1 minis and 2 printing plates, 20 unnumbered autos and 11 numbered autos. It's probably a little crazy, but it's been fun putting together. Any info is appreciated 🙏 including leads on more cards Thanks! |

If the autos for Matt Mercer were anything like the auto count for the non-sports autos for Mike Oz who was also in 2019 A&G (I collect him hard like PuddleMonkey collects non-Yankee auto sets), he had ~200 (under this by a bit) base autos, 25 black frame autos & 10 red inks in base A&G and another 25 'base' Silver autos and 5 Gold autos in Ginter X.
The only wildcard for autos is the unnumbered autos, but based on a few others I'd heard about when I was first going deep into the weeds on this set, that ~200 (or less) was pretty on par for the non-sports people who had autos in 19 A&G. Mike did sign some overage cards, but he didn't share how high the overs were from the stuff Topps sent him to sign, but I do know what was signed for packout. As for non /1's it'll be hard to get exacts on the full size base or hot box golds, base, hot box golds, A&G or black border minis without doing some larger math that looks at the packout options of all of 19 A&G, which had for retail blaster, single pack boxes and fat packs as well as hobby boxes so you'd need to chase down all those odds and dig into a spreadsheet to try and approximate out print runs based on the really long odds stuff comparatively to the checklist. In the end, it'll be a lot more trouble than it's worth IMO, but a full set of 300 non-SP base A&G back minis in a hobby packout would take 1500 packs (1:5 packs for A&G backs). For black borders, those same 300 non-SP mini's would take 3000 packs (1:10 packs). A case of hobby A&G was 12 boxes of 24 packs or 288 packs in a case, 264 of which were non hot-box packs. You'd need ~5.68 cases if you were pulling only non-SP minis out of hobby packs, so round up to 6.5 cases for a full set of A&G backs. For black borders you'd need 11.36 cases, so again round up to at least 13 cases assuming close to perfect collation and SP buffer. A set of gold mini's would take 12.5 cases before giving collation& SP mini buffer. They produced a TON of this stuff, so while I don't know how high total production was, the unnumbered stuff has some pretty high print runs. For all the numbered stuff that's relatively easy since it's all minis save the full size glossy /1. 50 NNO's, 25 Brooklyn, /1 wood, /1 glossy and the 4 /1 plates. Ginter X had /5 red and /1 silver. There was a full sized blank back /1 sold by Topps Vault through eBay, and then a /49 and /10 5x7 AND a /99 and /1 10 x 14 sold by Topps direct. I know that non of the 5x7 or 10 x 14's made it out if they weren't bought direct. I didn't buy the 10x14s thinking they'd be there a long time (and while they were, I went to check one day and they were gone and they've never shown back up online) AND editing in in because I just checked.... Mercer's got a full size relic and I've got NO clue what kind of numbers came out of the piece of clothing that he donated to be chopped up. Mike had also donated a piece for relic cards and he wasn't ever given any info on what that was made into. I see 2 of those relics and 3 of Matt's base cards on COMC and another 2 sellers with 11 total base cards on Sportslots if you're in the mood to wipe out two shops.

I figured Topps printed a ton of product, I mean I bought a bunch and I saw what was selling. I was hoping someone had some kind of estaished print numbers already leaked or calculated. I wouldn't even know how to start figuring that, since I'm only interested in the 1 card, and I'd imagine the print numbers were different for the non-sports people, if not wildly unique per person. It is great to have what info you've shared though, especially about Auto numbers. I figured most of the #d stuff is in the minis, and I have a good number of them. I love the mini cards. Sadly the 1/1 blank back sold the day after I learned the cards even existed. Luckily, I was able to buy all the #1s of the 5x7s and the 10x14s. Regarding the Relics, I assume they made as many cards as they possibly could based on the shirt's size. I don't know exactly how big the swatch is, and I haven't seen them include any hems or the neck, so that can be figured if you know what shirt it was. This is what my collection is sitting at for any of you freaks like me out there: Base - 530 Gold Hot Box - 77 Black X - 98 Relics - 88 Base Mini - 91 Black Border Mini - 30 Gold Mini - 20 Mini X - 11 Mini A&G Back - 56 Mini Brooklyn Back - 6 of 25 Mini A&G No # - 5 of 50 Red X Minis - 2 of 5 Mini Glossy - 1 or 1 Mini Wood - 1 of 1 Silver X Mini - 1 of 1 Yellow Printing Plate - 1 of 1 Magenta Printing Plate - 1 of 1 Un-numbered framed Autos - 20 Black Framed Autos - 3 of 25 Red Autos - 3 of 10 Silver X Auto - 4 of 25 Gold X Auto - 1 of 5 5x7 - 1 of 49 Gold 5×7 - 1 of 10 10×14 - 1 of 99 Gold 10x14 - 1 of 1 That's 2 of those 2014 A&G binders looking thick! I appreciate the card leads as well. I haven't gotten to the point I'm willing to pay $5 per card, yet, but I'm sure I will when I get the itch Last edited by Theonerok; 12-03-2024 at 03:57 AM. |

So A&G X base and base mini are fairly simple due to the odds on the silver 1/1 and same packout for every box.
And understand my math is a tad rough so these are appx numbers For 2019 A&G X: 719 base of each card, 130 of each mini. Silver 1/1 minis were 1:137 packs 137 x 350 = 47950 packs Packs have 5 full size base, with 301-350 being sp and one every other pack. So (5 x 47950) - (47950/2) = 215775 total base cards 215775/300 = 719 of each base card For the minis, 2019 A&G odds do not specify an SP. So simply 47950 packs and we have to remove the reds, silver, and other special minis(there were others from regular A&G in 2019 X) so roughly 1750(reds), 350(silver) and 500(others…rough guess) So 47950-2600 = 45350/350 =130 of each 2019 A&G mini….roughly. https://www.blowoutforums.com/showpo...&postcount=557 |
