This just seems so hard to believe…in 20+ years. Whether listings have or don’t have Best Offer, if it has auto decline etc, does not stop buyers from messaging on listings in my experience. In fact some buyers will message offers on listings with autodecline because the autodecline and it’s the only way to get their offer visible to me. Anyway 5 or less messages in 20+ years…yea that doesn’t really make sense…probably had 10+ the last week alone, some with autodecline etc. I’m probably a mid size seller…not huge but not tiny.

I usually get “what’s the lowest you’ll go”, sometimes I’ll get straight up offers “$300?”, lately I’ve been getting some requests to trade, I also get a ton of messages just wasting my time (“tire kickers”) asking me to dance for them essentially…take extra pictures, getting into conversations about the item/hobby rather than about specifically buying it…or the ol “Nice card! I’d like to buy this and will do so come next week on X date after I get paid”….which results in just about a 100% non-follow through rate…the person never does, and these people will get blocked…I don’t need do business with someone lying to me (not that they are buying anyway)..

Anyway, yea I don’t need messaging on comc it’s true the seller can just ignore the messages….but I enjoy the simplicity of comc. Sellers have their prices and that’s that. In theory it’s self correcting where that person that has your $10 card for $50 simply wont sell it…and eventually must make changes if they ever want to sell it, or another one comes in the bucket to undercut it, etc. That’s up to them, but it is sort of a self correcting mechanism.
