The kid wanted to more than double his wages and become one of the highest paid footballers in global football (£300k a week would make him 5th highest paid player in the Premier League). Last edited by YayNJ; 07-24-2025 at 11:14 AM. |

Diaz looks gone to Bayern, pending medical. Darwin to ANYWHERE is next. Isak to Liverpool looks more and more likely every hour. Pretty incredible if they pull it off. You never know how new players will fit in, but the roster for the champs looks significantly better now.

Joao Felix off to the Saudi retirement league aged just 25.
Newbs to the hobby probably won't remember when he was the Yamal, with people dropping insane figures on his TC rookie. |

Isak to Liverpool looks all but done.
Newcastle, the richest club on earth apparently looking at newly promoted Leeds United's main transfer target Rodrigo Muniz of Fulham as a replacement. #ambition |

FourFourTwo reporting that the Newcastle board have decided NOT to let Isak leave, and that he and his representatives have been informed of that fact.

tough words, they are just looking after their best interests.. ie: getting as much money for him as possible.
player is clearly unhappy and is training with a Spanish team. do you risk forcing a player like him to rot for a year, which would severely diminish his value? |

It seems like he wants a raise (and he does deserve one), but if he had wanted to bet on himself, he could have signed a shorter initial contract with Newcastle and/or had clauses inserted that would have raised his wages if he achieved certain performance goals. Likewise, if he wanted to force a move away from Newcastle, his agents should have made his intentions clear much earlier in the summer, before other clubs started spending their transfer kitties, and when it would have been easier for Newcastle to find a replacement. This just seems like a poorly timed effort by his agents to force Newcastle's hand so late in the window that it would be difficult for Newcastle to find a replacement before the season starts. Note that despite all the talk, Liverpool have yet to table an official bid despite having had all summer to do so. I'll also note that football seems to still be in the dark ages with regard to contracts....almost all contracts are for the same five years and for fixed wages which do not change over the life of the contract. Whereas in most other sports, both players and teams are much more creative when it comes to contracts that both satisfy the player and protect the team/club. When Isak first signed with Newcastle from Real Sociedad, his agents should have asked to insert an escalator clause that increased his wages if he scored X goals in a season or if Newcastle qualified for the Champions League. Whining about a contract you signed in good faith just because you have outperformed expectations just makes you look bad. Last edited by mfw13; 07-31-2025 at 02:22 PM. |

If they refuse to sell him, as the FourFourTwo article seems to indicate they've decided, what is he going to do? He has no cards, except to refuse to play. Newcastle are a mess off the pitch, with no Sporting Director or functioning CEO, but Isak and/or his agents have handled this VERY poorly by waiting until comparatively late in the window to try and force a sale. If Isak wanted to force a move, he should have started doing so as soon as the season ended, especially since neither Liverpool or Newcastle were playing in the CWC. Why he and/or his agents waiting until late July, less than a month before the new season starts, is beyond comprehension. |

really like the Jorrel Hato signing for Chelsea. Ajax vice-captain (and captained them at times) at 19 is no small feat.
And cover for Cucurella is the one player Chelsea didnt really have. Garnacho rumoured too. Not sure what to think. Though it's a win-win because if he does well we laugh at United and if he flops we just sell to Arsenal >_> |
