On March 1, I added the 500th card into my Ben Hogan golf card Database, which can be found at www.benhogangolfcards.com
It has been a great past several years of collecting Ben Hogan golf cards and operating the website. I would appreciate any feedback you can offer about Ben Hogan cards, including your BH collection and what you might have that I do not have in the Database. I do have several entries in the Database that you might think do not belong, such as newspaper clippings, puzzle pieces, and many custom-made cards. But I do find these all fascinating in their own way and (for now) have included them I am still looking for the following Ben Hogan cards: 1959 Cadet Sweets Transfer 1965 Slazenger Promo Card 1977 Sportscaster 35-10 Print Run C 1978 Sportscaster Belgian 34-794 2006 Helmar Brewing Co #36 or Uncut Sheet 2010 Arelix Famous Personalities Any BANTY RED BH card that I do not own Thank you for taking the time to read over this and especially any information that you can send my way about Ben Hogan cards. Great Ben Hogan collection - I really enjoyed browsing through your website.
I'm also completely blown away by this article about you: https://www.usga.org/content/usga/ho...lf-museum.html Over 560 different comic books with golf depicted on the covers! ![]() ![]() It was extremely generous of you to donate your collection to the USGA Golf Museum. I think this quote pretty much sums it up: When asked about Charlie Haviza, Hurdzan answered quite simply, "His collection is the best in the world…And we always considered him the god."

Thank you very much for replying to the Ben Hogan post and adding the information about my comic book collection that was donated to the USGA. It was a wonderful experience putting this collection together. I was more than happy to be able to share this collection with so many.
As I continue to collect Ben Hogan cards and learn more about this amazing man, I feel honored to be able to communicate with so many who find the game of golf so fascinating and still feel the past golfers and their memorabilia are worth remembering and collecting. |

The fact that you were able to share the experience with your wife is simply amazing. The article mentions that you two would spend weekends and vacations traveling together to various conventions and shops in search of comic books to add to your unique collection.
That's every collector's dream, and you were able to live that to the fullest extent (and still are, I hope). I have to ask: What was the most interesting comic book that you added to your past collection? Did you ever come across any traditional Marvel or DC titles that surprised you with a golf related cover?

Actually, it seems the article that I posted contains some pertinent info.
There's a 1946 Action Comics book that features golf and Superman on the cover (here he is graciously helping someone with his trick shots). (not my comic book, found image on Ebay)

In regards to Ben Hogan cards, what is your favorite Ben Hogan autographed item that you currently own in your collection?

My favorite is a signed check. Grabbed a signed Masters scorecard but need to get it authenticated. Signature looks good but possibly printed, but from the Pebbly Beach shop so it should be good.

Do you have a pic of the signed Masters scorecard?

Sorry, haven't checked in for a while. Pics will be attached. Came from Pebble Beach shop https://www.golfspast.com/pebble-beach.html which is now under new ownership but has a great reputation. It is a replica score card from his 1967 round. My bet is he signed hundreds of these. Sig looks good, I just can't tell if live ink. I guess It will have to be pulled apart to submit but I think it may be good.

Nice - the framed piece in its entirety looks amazing.
I'd almost hate to take it apart just for the authentication, but I definitely understand the thought process.
