No doubt UK is a stronger basketball school...but its dumb to say that the team with the most overall Big Ten titles only has a good team every few years. Remind me how great UK has been over the past 5 years again...oh yeah...no better than Purdue up until now.
Purdue has plenty to offer recruits...especially a better education (don't blame me...blame the US News and World reports lists) and a coach that is there to teach basketball first of course and how to be a better man second. If you look at our 2 best players Robbie Hummel and E'twaun Moore...both of them have 3.8 GPAs or better. AND they both are solid NBA prospects. If for some reason the NBA doesn't work out for these guys they will always be set for life because of what they did at Purdue...and not just on the basketball court.
Purdue is a college basketball program....no telling what UK is now with Callipari at the helm. You're naive if you think John Wall has attended a single class in the spring. We've lost out on plenty of one and done players in the state because we strictly enforce class attendance while at school...not just the bare minimum to stay eligible. Shoot, we've even booted 2 of our best players for that reason and ended up having less than stellar seasons because of it. Would Kentucky do the same? I say no, especially since they hired a coach that would stop at nothing to win and got caught (yet not punished) at his 2 previous stops..
So no, we don't have any payments to offer our players to come to Purdue but we do have a solid basketball and academic program to offer them once they do decide to come. Couple that with being in the state of Indiana...pretty much the Mecca of high school basketball...we'll continue to be better than having a good team every few years.
