I stole a card only once, and it was a late 1980s Score (or Donruss) card of a San Diego Padres player named Shawn Abner.

And I took it (from a friend, who said I could have it once he found out I stole it), not because he was a former #1 overall draft pick and thought that it would have value some time down the line, but... because his middle name was my name.

I never really followed him during his career, which I vaguely remember being a bust, but I did just look him up now and apparently he had a run-in with the law a few years back and did prison time. But his son is also a professional gamer and considered one of the best Call of Duty players of all-time, so there's that.
