Examples of long-term collectors would be people like corockies or TBP. They just add what they like/want irrespective of potential appreciation/loss.

You can label me whatever you want! Yes, I worry about the value of my cards. This hobby can be expensive! Why would I want to buy cards of players that will have no long term value? I grew up during the junk wax era...so all of the cards I collected as a kid have virtually no value, but it was fun collecting as a kid. As an adult, I want to make sure I get something of value for my money.
