No doubt that Baker is playing great and willing his team to victory. Egbuka has been a rockstar this season. They have had a great one two punch with Bucky Irving and Rashad White for most of the season. Evans played the first three games and appears on track to be back this week. Unclear whether Godwin will ever be able to regain his prior form. I just don’t know that I see him putting up the stats to win him MVP. But, If they keep winning, he will stay in the conversation. Helps that their division is very mediocre…. he is also a feel good story that people can get behind. Guy is kicked to the curb by multiple teams and resurrect his career. People love the underdog.
But, All these quarterbacks are dealing with depleted offensive production Hell, the Chiefs number one receiver (Rashee rice ) has been gone the first six weeks of the year and doesn’t come back until this week. Our number two receiver (Xavier worthy) missed the first three games with a separated shoulder. Kelce has clearly lost a step, but needed to step up and fill the void of talent during this time. For the first time in about two years, Mahomes will have all of the offensive weapons at his disposal. I am expecting some even better production for the balance of year assuming everybody stays healthy. I just wish we had a running game…
Josh Allen is not throwing to any all pro receivers And his defense is struggling this year. He does have the benefit of James Cook, but doesn’t seem that they use him correctly. I expect that he will remain in the conversation for MVP for most of the season unless their team falls off a cliff record wise
Dak Prescott is having a great season and he has been without Ceedee lamb and other players at various points of the season as well. He is just suffering from having a truly terrible defense.
Daniel Jones has the benefit of Jonathan Taylor and some pretty solid and healthy wide receivers. They have the benefit of also playing in a very mediocre division, which should allow him to maintain good production with a solid record.
Drake Maye is a dark horse candidate. If they can keep stringing together victories and are able to win the AFC East, he will stay in the conversation. Defense should keep them in most games. I just don’t see him putting up the stats to win MVP. Impressive start to the season though.
Will be interesting to see how the season unfolds. Feels like it’s setting up for Mahomes and Allen to win the stats conversation by the end of the season. Question is whether their teams have strong enough records to give them the crown. I think the media will help Keep Baker in the conversation if he can keep stringing together victories. Voter fatigue is a real thing. They always want the next shiny object.
