Just saw the new "Superman" movie, it was pretty good.

Krypto the Superdog steals the show. He belongs to Superman's cousin, Supergirl, who shows up only at the end for a comedic scene, but her solo movie is already filmed and will hit screens in June 2026.

The group that will eventually become the Justice League figures prominently. It will include Superman, Metamorpho the Element Man, Mr. Terrific, Green Lantern (Guy Gardner), and Hawkgirl, plus certainly others to be added later.

Corenswet is a great Clark Kent who is (super spoiler in white): also Superman! and they nailed it with Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen, too. There were some things I definitely wasn't expecting including an update of the Eve Teschmacher character (played by Valerie Perrine in the original 1978 version). There was also the bold choice of repurposing a plot points (Superman intervenes in world conflicts) and a character (a clone of Superman) from what is widely considered the worst Superman movie ever, 1987's "Superman IV: The Quest For Peace", but they largely worked here.

My favorite part was when Hawkgirl flew up high with the puppet president who was in cahoots with the evil billionaire and purposely dropped him. That president was said to smell of urine within the film, so maybe that was a little on (in?) the nose, but it is what it is. The allegories don't end there as the script commented on some things that had already occurred in the real world but also astutely predicted another thing that hadn't happened yet when the script was written.

The flying sequences, always a key to Superman movies, were excellent, and they wisely employed motifs from the John Williams score for the original movies. The costume looked great. It used the logo as redesigned by illustrator Alex Ross for "Kingdom Come" based on the logo from the first adaptation of Superman comics, the Superman cartoons of the early 40's from Fleischer Studios.

Undefeated, and I mean to stay that way. Don't even try it, son.
