Unfortunately I'm not versed in soccer. Know a bit, but not much...as the sheer amount of leagues is overwhelming.

I could be totally off here, but one of the unique challenges the WNBA faces (that's unique to the sport) is glaring playstyle discrepancies between the sexes.

Again, no above-the-rim dynamics or consistency in rangy offense. Which are 2 of the biggest driving components for NBA viewership.

With most other sports, you don't really have a blatant omittance of key play factors, but rather just the physiological differences in the way they're carried out (slower serves/returns, less velocity on kicks, etc).

I'm just guessing there, but that's pretty much the main reason why I can't stomach sitting though an entire WNBA match, especially if it's not featuring a top 3 player. It's high school mens ball in my eyes.
Very interesting point I’d never considered. In some ways I actually prefer women’s tennis because it isn’t just brute force—but Federer is also my GOAT for his mastery of finesse.

But I can see how basketball would be different. Rims are the same height despite the average WNBA player being half a foot shorter than the average NBA player. That probably hurts the above-the-rim dynamic. The WNBA ball is smaller but the rims are same diameter—that should help WNBA FG%. 3-point line is closer too. Not sure what the solution is, or if it’s just appreciate the two games for their differences. I can’t even watch college basketball anymore though so I get you.
