This is an interesting observation. I think this Ohtani thread has a lot of regular contributors that clearly are collectors and like posting new pick ups. Of course there are others on here that post a card on here and then I see it on Ebay.
I am guessing there is a difference in income/wealth of the "collectors" and others that tend to flip Ohtani cards for profit rather than using the funds for better Ohtani cards. I assume the average collector on the boards is a male between the ages of 30 and 50 and has sufficient funds to participate in the hobby without going into debt. I am sure their are outliers that don't have disposable income and have a gambling addiction to opening wax, breaks and collecting cards.
I guess I am fortunate I can collect what I want (within reason) and don't have to sell any of my Ohtani cards.
