The problem for any hot young player is that there are always more hot young players waiting to steal the hobby spotlight away from you the minute you slow down. So that only way to keep the spotlight on you is to consistently perform at a high level so that you move from the "hot prospect" conversation into the "future HOFer" conversation, as Judge, Soto, and Acuna have largely done.
Henderson is one of a whole bunch of good young players who are still in the "hot prospect" group, but who have not been consistently good enough to move into the "future HOFer" group.....Alonso, Vlad Jr., Tatis Jr., JRod, Witt, Elly, Carroll, Merrill, etc, with Skenes, PCA, and James Wood now on the scene, along with the highly hyped Japanese guys like Yamamoto and Sasaki.
So with Gunnar only at a 126 OPS+/ 2.4 WAR this year (as compared to 157 OPS+/9.1 WAR last year), the hobby is losing interest in him.
