Exactly. Pop and the Spurs organization have a plan to win long term, and competing now is irrelevant. He's literally 20-years-old surrounded by 1 washed point God, 1 lottery pick, Zach Collins and a bunch of G-leaguers.
Normally, average coaches and organizations would let that #1 pick chuck the ball all day to sell tickets. Spurs not about that. This year they will at best compete for a play-in spot and Wemby will have another up and down season with 28/18/6 highlight games and mostly quiet 20/10 games, esp first half of the season.
Barring injuries, I hope the hobby gives up on him a little early so I can snipe some reasonable prices for once. But hot take: Wemby wins a title before Luka.
