Show was decent yesterday. That is, aside from the fact that the store manager called me around 3 telling me he was fired yesterday. This is the same guy I worked with at K-Mart for many years as his office manager. He said I should quit without notice. A couple of hours later I texted the assistant and asked whether or not I still had a job as he mentioned scapegoat and my name. She briefly called me and then I talked with her more when I got back to the room last night. Turns out he was having me close more than he should have been without one of the other full-timers there (all 4 are supposed to close at least 1 night per week). One of them usually closes when I don't. The store manager (now former) sometimes closed with me. The Cuban lady sometimes closed with me on Sundays and the assistant rarely, if ever closed. That was only subtext to the real reason he appeared to have been fired: consistently over payroll. This does not surprise me in the slightest as it was a constant fight that HR and I would have with him at K-Mart. He would set the schedule as he wanted it and we (mostly her) would have to go in and try to get it back under budget.

Depending who they get to fill the role, I may end up leaving. If it turns out to be the "evil one" (not likely), several of us would quit. She is that bad. Aside from that, I will take a "wait and see" approach. The district manager has to spend some time with the ASM today to get her up to speed with a few things that she did not have access to, likely posting the weekly schedule. She said she will call me late this afternoon with further updates concerning some of things we discussed last night.
