But it's not just fans of a specific team that collect cards of players like Soto.....there are plenty of people who collect him because they think he's a star/future HOFer and don't really care which team he is currently playing for.

There are lots of other players who switched teams multiple times during their careers and fit into this category....Nolan Ryan, Tom Seaver, Reggie Jackson, Rickey Henderson, Wade Boggs, Randy Johnson, Ken Griffey Jr., Pedro Martinez, Roger Clemens, Greg Maddux, Albert Pujols, Miggy Cabrera, Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander, etc.

A lot of it depends on who accomplished what with which teams...the greatest demand generally tends to be for the team where the player became a star and/or accomplished the most.

Certain collectors may prefer their cards with a specific team, but it's not like their cards with other teams become uncollectible.
