To me, the auto is an obvious 10. I have graded some cards with PSA auto grades in the past when it cost the same, but overall I find it unnecessary and it doesn't always result in higher resale. It also creates variation in my collection.
I would like to think people use their eyeballs and adjust price based on auto quality. Maybe I ask too much [emoji23]
