Seems like the state should step in and enforce some standards across the counties to avoid stuff like this.
So I thought the computer systems were dysfunctional with the court. It is nothing compared to actually going to Circuit Court. My SD had to be there at 9 AM. There is no rhyme or reason as to which cases get called when. It seems to have to deal more with when they lawyers decide to show up to court as some may have other cases to attend to on the same day in different counties or courts. My SDs lawyer was in court first thing this morning in St. Mary's County. He didn't arrive in our court until 11:30 and she had her case heard at noon. Apparently, the State and him already made a deal (and never bothered to send her the paperwork which would have negated going to court today). She had no extra time, so she's off probation January 26th. The most disappointing thing about the day was I had a great speech ready to go.

We did get to listen to some good cases. Two people came in from the county jail in their orange jumpsuits, handcuffs, and chains. A third guy locked up in Anne Arundel County was escorted in via one of their police officers. Some dude got jack and crap punishment for a DUI (1st offense). He got 30 days suspended sentence and alcohol counseling. They used to revoke your license for DUI offenses. Then we had a nice 45 minute long protection order case and honestly at the end of it, we all started feeling sympathy for the dude who it was against. He just wanted to sell his house and his wife and 3 adult children who are living there and making his life crap fight with him constantly and won't do anything with the realty agent. His one "threat" was texting her to tell her it was open enrollment for health care and he would not be adding her since the divorce hearing was in January and that she needed to get her own health insurance. She ended up getting the order as always even though we never got to hear the supposed videos of him threatening her.
