A Champ Ticket BGS 8.5 with an Auto 9, the first Champ Ticket to hit the market after Brady won his 7th ring sold for $2.25 million in Apr 2021 because of the hype and manipulation. The exact same card sold for $1.2 million in Jan 2022. Just because one or two people paid stupid prices because of FOMO or with an intent to manipulate, it does not set a benchmark. Anyways, what makes you think 84K sale might be a steal if the pop remains low and the prices might creep up a little? Do you believe there are many collectors out there that are looking to spend six figures on a Jordan Star PSA 8? The reason I am asking is because few were saying the same thing about Jordan 86F PSA 10 as well; i.e; there are more than 300 high end Jordan collectors out there who don't mind paying high six figures for a PSA 10.

If you are hardcore Jordan collector and have 10K to spend, what would be the first card you would go after? ICONIC

If you are a hardcore Jordan collector and money is not an issue, what would be the first card you would go after? GRAIL

One thing to remember is no matter how much people want to pump Brady as some football god, he's no Jordan. The last year or so have made it feel like he's on the same level, but it's unsustainable. I expect the Brady market to continue to fall hard.

Why do I believe the Star 101 at $84k may have been a steal? Unlike the 300+ collectors you need to keep the Fleer 57 afloat, you'll need a fraction of those people to sustain Star prices. I can't see the PSA 8 pop topping 50 when it's all said and done. Add to that there most likely will only be 5-10 copies at 8.5/9, and you'll have hardcore collectors only being able to choose from ~60 copies. Oh, and it's his actual rookie card. That's key. IMO, the Fleer 57 isn't like the '52 Mantle, where it's so iconic it doesn't matter that it's not his true rookie.

To answer the bolded, if I have $10k to spend, I'd wait for the best-looking PSA 4 Star to pop and buy that, although I think those stay above $10k.

Money being no object? Star 101 PSA 9. Two or three copies may reach that level. Get one whenever you have a chance.
