I could see this if Trout is going to be 75% Trout for the next five years or whatever. The Angels could open up the pocket book for him as well. I am sure with the Japanese crowd, he alone brings in enough merchandising sales to make up for the cost. If Ohtani is traded, the obvious team is Los Angeles. I would think he would want to stay on the West Coast.
Man, that would suck for Angles fans to have Ohtani gone and an aging Trout. At that point, Trout is never going to have any playoff success.
Speaking of Trout. How does the MLB contracts work? Is he getting paid his full contract regardless on when he officially retires? If the Angels cut him, does he get full contract? This might make a difference in a few years if (hopefully not) his back regresses.
