Even if none of the above was the case, and in a peculiar instance it got exempted, it's been observed that flukes do happen, and again I think the norm is for cards at auction meeting the threshold to get the AG attached (I've seen it with many cards personally).

The only reason I dont think it's being implemented based on feedback is because I have 100% and many (thousands of) transactions, and yet if I go to list a $1k item meeting the criteria, it pretty much always gets the AG designation.

Edit: if it was a redemption, Im assuming it's an auto, and that is almost certainly the reason yours didnt go through AG. You likely had "auto", "autograph", "signature" in the title. You basically cant find any remdemptions on ebay that go through AG, since for one they all say "auto" in the title.
Whelp, that makes sense- thanks for clarifying! I guess the key is to make sure all my high end is autos!
