If you go to Manchester, historically its majority City fans, and I'm talking years and years before the money take over. My aunt married into a British family from Manchester and he said its like 10-1 City vs United fans.

Yes Manchester United are probably the most bandwagoned team. That is all.
YouGov actually did a case study on this a few years ago (why? I have no idea)

Only 28% of Man Utd fans come from the entire North West region. Man City it's 49%. It also showed that Man City supporters are much older than Man Utd supporters showing long term support, where as Man Utd generally had a much younger fan base.

Obviously Manchester United don't actually play in the City of Manchester either, but rather the borough of Trafford.
