Not opposed to the death penalty if it's an open and shut case.  If there's no doubt, it shouldn't take decades, I'm for all the appeals and understand the legal system is incredibly slow...but decades?  These families have suffered enough and want closure.   
 
That said cases that have any ambiguity if the person did it or not, seems like life in prison sorta thing.  In the event the ruling is reversed, you can't give back time served (well monetarily I suppose you can) but you can't reverse death.  And there have definitley been cases of people who were put to death innocently and it's definitley heartbreaking. 
 
All aside if it were me, firing squad every single time.  Dead in no time, no suffocation, really not botch possible.  And they already possess guns, ammo is fairly cheap.  Atleast the drains on society don't have to drain the state's or federal in these cases money.
