This has been one of my biggest gripes with this whole thing all along. There's this idea that if you don't wear a mask, you're being reckless and risking the lives of those around you. Pretending there's no debate that masks are in fact effective, let's apply this logic to other areas where our actions can harm others.
Anyone here drive the speed limit all the time? Speed limits are in effect to protect everyone, but we ignore them for our own selfish reasons... gotta get to work, gotta pee, just gotta go fast because if you're not first you're last, <insert some other reason>. It's easy to justify why everyone should wear a mask, so why doesn't the pro mask crowd behave in the most considerate, risk averse way in other areas of life when their risky behavior can cause serious harm to others?
It's disgusting how many masks I see on the ground... everywhere... even in places where a mask isn't required. I can't imagine an anti masker wears a mask at a park when there is no mandate to do so, so why am I cleaning up this litter from inconsiderate pro maskers who don't care about how their careless actions impact others? We're very selective about what we decide to vilify others for and when we do it. Wear a mask or don't, IDGAF, but if you're one of the ones pointing fingers at others for putting people in harms way by not wearing a mask, you best be squeaky clean in the way you live your life. Be consistently considerate, not just when the issue is political and you think you're winning points for your team.
